Pre teach vocab Students to match meaning with word cards in 10x 5 words and 5

Activity 1 ‘Whispers’ 6 cards with
15 mins Put students in 2 or 3 teams 6 students per team sentences on it.

after the other. The first team member of every
team goes to the front where the teacher is
holding a card with a sentence written on it. They
read and remember it and then whisper it to team
member 2, who whispers it to team member 3 and
so on until the end of the line. The last team
member runs up to the board and writes what they
heard. When all teams have written their results,
read out the original sentence and check which
team was the most accurate. Then have students
at the front move to the back. I will keep the score
on the board. The cards will have facts of the Royal
Melbourne Show on them.
Demonstrate: First student reading the line from the
teacher and running back to whisper line to the
second student. Second student (holding hand up to
ear listens then says line to the next student and so
on then the last student runs to the board and write
there answer down.

10 mins Whole class activity I will start by saying ‘I went
to the Royal Melbourne Show and I saw the horse
jumping’ The next student will say the first line
and add on what they saw and so on.
Demonstrate: ‘I went to the Royal Melbourne
show and I saw the horse jumping.’ I will then sit
in the next seat and repeat the first line and add on
and pigs. Then I will ask the next student to go.
Facilitate: Elicit correct sentences and help out
with memory.
Activity 4 ‘Map Game’ 15 Maps
10 mins Each pair gets a map of the Melbourne show and 15 Worksheets
a worksheet with places to find on the map. Once
they find the places on the map they will write
down the co-ordinates e.g. H3.
Demonstrate: With a map and a worksheet find
one of the questions on the map.

Facilitate: Make sure all students are participating.
Take up: Ask for a few answers of where places
are on the map.
