Essential Grammar Passives

We use the passive:

when the subject is more important than the object and the agent is either obvious, not important, or
unknown
E.g. All applications are processed on the spot.

in formal writing to make it less personal


E.g. You are advised to return the application form within three days.

when we describe a process


E.g. The Library is run by two executive officers who are elected for a two-year term office.

Write the passive form of the sentences given in the table below.

The flowchart below shows how banana chips are made. Summarise the information by selecting
and reporting the main features and making comparisons where relevant.
