Importance of a Pure Heart

Lecture By Sh. Sad bin Naasir ash-Shithry Translated by Sh. Sajid Ahmad
Umar (HafiZahumallaah)
The heart is something that requires work.
The world has busied us (the Muslims) causes to become neglectful of the heart.
The reason to teach about heart is because if the heart is fixed, everything is fixed.
Related to the subject of Purification of the Soul in KIU taught by the same
Shuyookh.
---After greeting and introduction Allaah created us to for the purpose of getting into
Jannah by the means of worshipping him (aayah from soorah adh-dhaariyaat).
We live busy lives which make us forget our purpose as creation and make us lost.
So, POS helps to purify our souls and leads us to (aayah from soorah ash-Shams).
It is necessary to purify the souls and hearts for the one who wishes to learn the
Islaamic Sciences as it makes one ready to receive the knowledge.
Fixing the heart is an important aspect in our life. It benefits in both worlds.
(Hadeeth on heart)
If we look at the life of the Prophet, he used to supplicate much to Allaah to make
his heart steadfast on Islaam. This is also from the supplication of the believers (see
soorah aal-Imraan).
The Prophet taught us that the heart has the ability to change from misguidance to
guidance (Hadeeth on heart being between the two Fingers of Allaah).
Causes that cause the heart to become serene & pure:
Ikhlaas in all of ones actions.
To instill in oneself: al-Muraaqabah (Allaah is All-Watchful over what one does).
[Aayah on: kiraaman kaatibeen; nothing is hidden from Allaah in this world and in
the skies; Allaah knows that which is in your heart; Allaah knows all the secrets].
This helps to become productive and helps to do that which is best and the best of
all worship is Seeking Islaamic Knowledge [Hadeeth: Best are those who teach
Quraan; virtues of those who study the Quraan in Masjid].
I (Sh. Sajid) always say in POS: Shaytaan makes us forget our purpose when we only
think of deadline while studying Islaamic subjects; we dont feel our Eemaan boost

even though we are studying Tafseer (intending meaning of the Quraan). We lost
Khushoo in Salaah.
Always take heed; become humble as it is a sign of pure heart.
Feeding the heart is more important that feeding the body.
The heart is the foundation; everything depends on the heart.
