Introduction

In this project work Im going to talk about the changes in the world of work.
Firstly, I want to explain what is work, what is the world of work, how I get in the world
of work.
Secondly, I want to explain the differences between the old and new world of work.
Finally, I want to explain what entrepreneurship is.

Work
When defining work there is no certain definition because work can be a job as well an
employment (career).
When we talk about a job we have people who just want the money at the final of the
month. Theres a lot of types of jobs like part-time job, full-time job, odd jobs, seasonal
jobs or temporary work and self-employment.
A full-time job is the normal work, sometimes called career, where you work 8 hours
a day I get some benefits like annual leave, sick-leave and health insurance. In terms of
part-time job you work less hours than a full-time job and you dont get the normal
benefits of a full-time job. Part-time jobs are common among students.
Odd jobs are usually uncommon among people. For example Hot Dog Vendors, Trash
Collectors, Casino Gamers, Voice-over Artists and Funeral Service Manager. Voice-over
artists are people who give their voices in foreign films, cartoons, video games,
commercials and movies.
Temporary work or seasonal jobs only last for a period of time, in this type of job we
have people who work in holiday season while the full time workers are in holidays.
Finally we have self-employment or has we today call it entrepreneurship. Basically its
you that makes your own work, for example you dont have a job and some day you
came up with the idea of creating a company and it works very well, thats
entrepreneurship because when you didnt had a job you created yourself one.

Old world of work vs New world of work

In the time of our grandparents and parents when we talked about the world of work,
we talked about applying to a company and working there for almost the end of our
days of work. More specifically when you started working for employer A it was very
difficult to start working for employer B because you were already happy about the fact
that you were getting enough money to survive, feed your family and pay for your
children education.
Nowadays when we talk about working forever for the same employer it sounds kind of
funny because when people have the chance of earning a little bit more money they go
for it. People dont care anymore about who your employer is, it can be employer A as
well as employer D, if they pay well enough you work for them. Of course we have
another side in the world of work today, and that is self-employment. So you get to a
part of your life where you get yourself either unemployed or you arent happy about
your payment and thats the moment where you think about self-employment.

New types of work

In the new world of work we have a few new types of jobs like:
1. Teleworking- Its a job where you work from base using the new ways of
communicating like voice-conference or video-conference and using your
cellphone.
2. Job-sharing- This type of job appears when two people do the job of just one
person, they usually work on part-time schedules or fill the other one gaps.
3. Flexitime- This one is as simple as the name indicates your work time, schedule,
is flexible, you make your own schedule for example if your prefer start working
at 8am to 17pm while your work partners start at 9am and finish at 18pm you
can do it.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is the same thing as self-employment.

Basically you start with an idea, you develop that idea. Then you start making your
business model and getting all the resources that you are going to need for your
company.
Entrepreneurship is the capacity of making something happen, if you wish to make an
accounting company and you actually do it thats entrepreneurship.
In the entrepreneurship world we have some famous examples like Gabe Newell who
worked at Microsoft and then launched its own company, Valve. Then we have Steve
Jobs, Bill Gates, Larry Pages (one of the co-founders of Google). And we get back in
time we have for example Henry Ford.

Conclusion

With this project I learned about the world of work and entrepreneurship.
I learned a new typology of jobs like odd jobs and temporary work.
This project also helped me consolidating my knowledge about the world of work.
