Genre Project
Since I did career in sports as my inquiry, I decide for my genre project I would
go more in depth to a career that I consider to be my dream job and that would be NBA
GM. In this I did flyers comparing how well two general managers have done over the
last few seasons. The first is Sam Hinkie, the former general manager of the Philadelphia
76ers. The other is Bob Myers, the general manager of the Golden State Warriors.
Since this is a summary of how well these two general managers have done my
intended audience would be someone who wants to see how well they are doing. Also
since I did try to add some humor I believe that any basketball fan that wants a good
laugh would also be a part of the audience.
My purpose was to do a little exploration on my dream job. I did in a way that I
think was fun, easy to understand, and sometimes used humor to make it more appealing
to the reader.
My focus was to compare two general managers. One whos team has had a lot of
success over the past few years and another whos team has struggled to win games
during the time that he was the general manager

stint with the team. Hinkie was a leader for using analytics to develop a team.
Some fans around the NBA community think that Hinkie values draft picks more
than life itself. Since taking over Hinkie has had nearly 10 first round picks
Some of the records that the 76ers set while Hinkie was GM included longest
game losing streak (26) and worst start to a season (0-18)

Bob Myers has been the General Manager of the Golden State Warriors since
2012. Since that time the Warriors have had one of the best records in the league.
Everything he does has worked out whether it be draft picks or free agent
signings. Notable picks include Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green
and Harrison Barnes. Free agent signing include Shaun Livingston and Andre
Iguodala.
Myers was the NBAs Executive of the Year in 2015.
Myers was responsible was drafting Stephen Curry the now two time MVP of the
league. He was also the one who hired Steve Kerr as head coach he won the 2015-
