Genetics is the study of inheritance, and molecular biology reveals the underlying mechanism of information storage, replication and realization. Discoveries in these areas continue to elucidate the
molecular basis for life, have enabled the development of novel biotechnologies, and can identify the cause of, as well as suggest rational therapies for, human disease. The methods and logic we will
examine provide the basic toolset used to study modern biology.

Additional problems are not graded but provide an added relevant opportunity to develop your skills at solving genetics problems. The intent is not to learn formulas for solving a litany of particular
types of problems but rather enable you through practice to learn to apply the concepts of genetics and molecular biology to novel situations. The Griffiths textbook offers this good advice as you
progress towards mastery (p. 66):

The solved problems at the end of each relevant chapter are also excellent accounts of the problem solving process for particular topics.
