Enhanced Microsoft Project XML Support

For those of you working in a mixed environment of P6 and Microsoft Project, heres something for the
Microsoft Project die-hards you have to support: an update option in the Import dialog allows you to
load changes from Microsoft Project schedules, rather than having to replace a prior version. P6 also
now supports Microsoft Project 2010 XML formats. Weve tested this update feature and it worked
well.

now supports Microsoft Project 2010 XML formats. Weve tested this update feature and it worked
well.
Thats about it for the P6 Professional client. We have a setup of Primavera P6 EPPM R8.2 and will
be looking at the new features for that in a later blog. As always, please drop us a line if you have any

HOW TO INSTALL:

Step no. 1: go to (P6_R82_Client_Applications Folder) and run P6Professional-setup.exe ,

the program will start by installing MS .Net Framework4
Step no. 2: click accept then java window will appear to install java program
Step no. 3: Click install then install to complete java installation following java installation
the Net Framework4 will be installed which could take some time.
Step no. 4: Then install primavera P6 Professional R8.1 window will open, click next
Step no. 5: choose stand alone then click next
Step no. 6: the primavera program will ask for the password, the primavera R8.1 default
password is Prima123Vera
Step no. 7: the primavera program will install the database this will take time

Step no. 8: after installing the data base complete the primavera message will come ,
just click finish
Step no. 9: the system will ask to restart the computer just click restart after restart Go to
( P6_R82_Client_Applications folder ) , then database folder then click dbsetup and follow the
next step.
Step no.10: add the primavera password Prima123Vera and database name XE ,Then
click next , then create ,Then click next and type the password in each cell same to user name
above.

i.e administrative user name : admuser administrative password:

type same username (admuser) without brackets and confirm same password, Then click next to go
to next step to choose the primavera password lets say admin, Then click install and wait the
primavera database installation to be completed
Step no.11: Now the installation is completed, restart your computer and open the
primavera program from the icon and type the user name admin and the password
admin to log in
Set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable.
Right click on the "My Computer" icon.
Click "Properties" from the context menu.
Click "Advanced system settings" link
Click on the "Environment variables" button in the "Advanced" tab of the "System
Properties" window.
Click on the "New" button under system varibles. It will open a new system variable
window.
Enter Variable Name as: ORACLE_HOME
Enter Variable Value as: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server
Replace the variable name with the location to your oracle installation if it varies from the
example provided.
Click on 'OK'
