2. In the implementation of learning activities, students can practice and
apply the discipline attitude
3. In the implementation of learning activities, students can practice and
apply the responsible attitude.

Core Competence 3 (KI 3)

Understanding, applications, analyzing factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge
based on curiosity of science, technology, art, culture, humanities, with insight into
humanity, national, state, and civilization in related causes of phenomena and events,
as well as applying procedural knowledge in a specific field of study according to
their talents and interests to solve problems
Basic Competence :
3.1 Analysis the characteristic of the buffer solution based on Acid- base concept
and Ph of the solution
Indicator :
1. Mention the properties of buffer solution.
2. Determining pH of buffer solution based on weak acid, strong acid, weak base
or strong base.
3. Mention of advanatages buffer solution in daily life
Learning Objective:
1. Student able to mention the properties of buffer solution
2. Student able to determine pH of buffer solution based on weak acid, strong
acid, weak base or strong base.
4. Student able Mention of advanatages buffer solution in daily life.

Core Competence 4 (KI 4):

Processing, reasoning, present, and create in the realm of the concrete and the abstract
domains associated with the development of the learned at school independently and
act effectively and creatively, and able to use the scientific method
Basic Competence
4.1 Submit ideas on the way to determining pH of buffer solution

Indicator
1. Conducting formation of buffer solution
2. Inferring the experiment result
3. Making written report according to format.
Learning Objective
1. By conducting the experiment, students will be able to mastery scientific
performance skill; designing tools, identifying and analyzing the surrounding
materials which can used as indicator.
2. Based on the results of experiment, student will be able to analyze and infer
them accordance the purpose of experiment.
3. Based on the results of experiment, student will be able arrange a written
report of experiment.

LEARNING ACTIVITY
Meeting 1
Activity
A. Preliminary

Time
10

of finding the article about

Teacher 1

buffer solution.

Students respond to greetings and questions relating

to the conditions of teachers, attendance

Phase 1 :

Students receive competency information, material,

purpose, benefits, and lessons that will be
implemented

(conduct

experiment

of

buffer

solution)
As a perception to encourage curiosity and critical
thinking, the teacher asked a question about buffer
solution (review the previous meeting about
titration, acid base concept) and connected with
buffer solution.

B. Teacher Core Activities

Teacher 1
Phase 2 :

As recollection and a teacher gives explanation

about buffer solution and the example of buffer
solution in our daily life. (expalin ppt)

Dividing class into 3 groups and distribute the

work-sheet into each group.

Explanation
Teachers collect the task

Explain that buffer solution can made from strong

acid solution combine with weak base solution or
strong base solution combine with weak acid

30

Explain step 1 until 4 in the procedure of the

experiment.

Phase 3 :

Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 1

until 3

Phase 4 :
Asking the step of determine pH buffer solution
from begining measure pH of solution that will be
testing using pH meter until analysis of result pH of
buffer solution that formed?

Giving feedback from the student answer and the

reason to measure of pH buffer solution( we can
using universal indicator).

Teacher 2 :
Phase 2 :

Explain step 4 until 6 in the procedure of the

experiment.

Phase 3:

Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 4

until 6 and observed the result that they got.

Phase 4 :

Asking the step of buffer solution from The step 4

until 6 and the reason used strong base combine
with weak acid(bit by bit)( ..)

Teacher 1

Phase 2 :
Determining buffer solution

Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 4-7

Phase 3 :
Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 4
until 7 (give example the first experiment using
acid, CH3COOH and strong acid)
Phase 4 :
Leading the student to do the data observation result
of acid solution not buffer solution.
Teacher 2
Phase 2 :
Determining buffer solution (2)

Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 1-3

but change with weak base

Phase 3
Teacher leading the student to conduct the step 4
until 7 (give example the first experiment using
weak base NH3).
Phase 4 :

Leading the student to do the data observation result

of buffer solution from weak base.

Giving time to the student to fill the Analysis and

make conclusion on the worksheet based on the
experiment data.

Teacher choose a student randomly to communicate

their conclusion of the experiment

Teacher giving reinforcement and feedback about

the conclusion.

C. Closing
Teacher 2
Phase 5 :
Teacher give evaluation to the student
Teacher give homework on IGCSE Book,
Teacher have the students to read the following
material.
