IELTS Identification
As stated in the Notice to Candidates from your IELTS online application, you must have your
ID on the day of your test!
If you have sent your ID away, lost your ID, or if your ID is invalid, you will not be allowed to
take the test, and we will not offer to refund or transfer your test date!
It is your responsibility to have your ID on the day of your test!
No exceptions! The only two forms of ID that are acceptable on the day of your test are:

Under no circumstances do we accept any other forms of ID. Make sure you are attending
your examination with your ID in hand, or you will not be able to take the test!
Yes, if you have a new ID, or want to use a PR card instead of a passport
(or passport instead of a PR card), just e-mail us with a photocopy of your
new ID before your test day.
IELTS Security
IELTS has instated advanced security measures to ensure the privacy and protection of our
candidates. These measures consist of having a digital photo taken and your finger scan
digitally registered prior to your test.
If you have any concerns over how your information is used, please contact the center in writing
before the day of your test as it is required that you complete these procedures in order to be
admitted into your IELTS test.
Please note that staff may check these items to ensure test security.
Other items are not allowed in your test room with you. This includes watches, mobile
phones, money (paper or change), note paper, books, or food of any kind.
These items may be checked in to the locked storage area, but please note that IELTS
assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
For the sake of fast registration, and for your own peace of mind, please do not
bring unnecessary items to your IELTS test!
You cannot wear heavy sweaters, hoodies, jackets, scarves, coats or hats into your
IELTS test room.
Transferring or Cancelling
We start preparing your IELTS test 5 weeks before the test date. That means that all
requests for a test day transfer or a cancellation must be made 5 weeks in advance of
your IELTS test.
The last day to transfer/refund your test is posted in Test Dates, on our website at
www.ieltscalgary.com
You must complete the Request for Refund or Transfer Form available in the Forms
section of our website to request a refund or transfer.
Telephone requests for cancellation or postponement are not accepted.
Cancellation Policy
1. Cancellation more than 5 weeks ahead of the test date you will receive a full refund
minus a $50.00 administration fee. You must make this request before 4:30 PM of the
deadline day.
2. Cancellation less than 5 weeks ahead of the test date you will receive NO refund.
3. Failure to appear for the test without notification is considered a cancellation and NO
refund will be issued.
Transfer Policy
1. Request for Test Day Transfer must be made more than five weeks prior to your test
date. Transfer dates will depend on availability.
2. Candidates who wish to transfer less than five weeks prior to the elected test date will
be treated as a cancellation and will receive NO refund.
3. Transferring is free the first time, but repeat incidents will require a $50.00 administrative
fee.
Candidates seeking cancellation or transfer within the five-week period prior to the test date will only
receive a refund if they can provide evidence that their ability to sit the test has been affected by serious
illness or cause:
Serious Illness hospital admission or serious injury
Loss or bereavement death of a close family member
Hardship/trauma victim of crime, victim of traffic accident
Military service
Candidates must file an application for refund no later than five (5) working days after the test date.
You must complete a Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form and attach appropriate
documentation and/or evidence medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice
or certificate, or a police report.
All refunds are paid by cheque and take 30 business days to arrive.

Speaking test times are non-negotiable. We do not make special exceptions, no matter
what the situation may be!
Only candidates from out-of-town are given priority for same-day testing.
If you have registered for this test, then you have agreed to be available for a speaking
test on either Friday or Saturday afternoon at the time of our choosing.
If you do not attend your speaking test at the given time, you will not be given
the option to transfer or refund your IELTS test!
As instructed in this email, you must contact us if you do not receive your speaking test
schedule by email at 5pm, 8 days (Friday) before the test. Not receiving the email
without informing us is not grounds for a transfer or refund.

Once the doors to the test center are closed we do not admit late candidates to the
test. You will not be offered a transfer or refund of your test fees. Please come
with plenty of time to spare!
Its better to be thirty minutes early than to be thirty minutes late!
Listening/Reading Details
The Listening and Reading tests are the first two tests of the day. Each test consists of forty
questions. The type of questions could be:
The Listening test is a 30 minute listening exercise, with an additional 10 minutes to transfer
your answers onto your answer paper.
You must transfer your answers during the final 10 minutes of the listening
section onto your answer sheet.
Question books are not marked, so answers that are not transferred will not
receive marks!
Remember to use only pencil when completing the Listening and Reading portions!
Writing Details
The Writing section is the third test of the day.
The Writing test takes 60 minutes to complete and is divided into 2 tasks.
Task 1 must be 150 words and you should spend approximately 20 minutes completing it.
Task 2 must be 250 words and you should spend approximately 40 minutes completing it.
Task 2 is worth twice as many points as Task 1 in determining your Writing band score.
You may use either pencil or pen to complete the Writing section.

General Training and Academic candidates will receive different styles of Writing tests.

Speaking Details
The Speaking test will take place through-out the afternoon and early evening on Friday or
Saturday. You must be prepared to have your speaking interview at the time given to you on
that day.
The Speaking test takes approximately 12-15 minutes and is a 3 part, face-to-face interview
with an IELTS professional.

Enquiry on Results
DEFINITION OF TERMS:
Enquiry on Results- the process by which candidates ask for one or more test modules to be
remarked by different Markers. This request is made after the test results have been released
and is designed to ensure candidate performance has been accurately assessed.
GENERAL REGULATIONS:
Candidates are entitled to request a full re-mark (i.e. all test papers), or a partial re-mark (i.e.
one or more modules) of their original results.
Candidates must submit all their requests for re-mark to the IELTS Centre within six weeks of
the test date.

IMPROVEMENT IN SCORE:
Should a candidate be awarded a higher score than the original, a new Test Report Form (TRF)
will be issued by the Test Centre with the new score(s). A full refund will be issued to the
candidate.
NO IMPROVEMENT IN SCORE:
Should there be no improvement in the score, the candidate will be notified. The original TRF
will be returned to the candidate and there will be no refund of the re-mark fee.
