IELTS Identification

As stated in the Notice to Candidates from your IELTS online application, you must have your
ID on the day of your test!
If you have sent your ID away, lost your ID, or if your ID is invalid, you will not be allowed to
take the test, and we will not offer to refund or transfer your test date!
It is your responsibility to have your ID on the day of your test!

No exceptions! The only two forms of ID that are acceptable on the day of your test are:
-

A physical, valid passport. No photocopies!!

A physical, valid Permanent Resident Card.

Under no circumstances do we accept any other forms of ID. Make sure you are attending
your examination with your ID in hand, or you will not be able to take the test!

Should I send my passport to my embassy before my test?

They say it will be back before my test
No. We absolutely do not recommend doing this! If your passport is not
returned to you in time for your test (which happens very often!), we will
not be able to offer you a refund or a new test date. Once you have
booked an IELTS test, hold on to your passport!
Can I change my ID? Ive got a new passport since registering.

Yes, if you have a new ID, or want to use a PR card instead of a passport
(or passport instead of a PR card), just e-mail us with a photocopy of your
new ID before your test day.

IELTS Security
IELTS has instated advanced security measures to ensure the privacy and protection of our
candidates. These measures consist of having a digital photo taken and your finger scan
digitally registered prior to your test.

Identity Verification in Advance

After completing your application, our staff will happily take your photograph and finger
scan in our office before your test during our regular business hours.
You can go directly to the check-in station on test day if you have verified your identity
before your test.

Identity Verification on Test Day

If you did not come to our office before your test, you must have your photograph taken
and finger scan registered in the morning on test day.

If you have any concerns over how your information is used, please contact the center in writing
before the day of your test as it is required that you complete these procedures in order to be
admitted into your IELTS test.

I already did an IELTS test. Do I need to have my photo

taken again?
Yes, we keep each database for every test separate. Even if you have
taken an IELTS test with us before, you will need to redo your verification.

What should I bring?

Please note that staff may check these items to ensure test security.
Other items are not allowed in your test room with you. This includes watches, mobile
phones, money (paper or change), note paper, books, or food of any kind.
These items may be checked in to the locked storage area, but please note that IELTS
assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
For the sake of fast registration, and for your own peace of mind, please do not
bring unnecessary items to your IELTS test!

What may I wear?

While we do encourage you to dress appropriately for the weather outside, you wont be
allowed to bring those extra layers into your examination room.

You cannot wear heavy sweaters, hoodies, jackets, scarves, coats or hats into your
IELTS test room.
