Task 1 (Cambridge Book 4 - page115)

You were hurt in a minor accident inside a supermarket,

and you wish to complain to the supermarket.
Write a letter to the manager of the supermarket. In your
letter
- say who you are
- give details about the accident
- suggest how the supermarket could prevent similar
accidents.
Dear Mr.Johnson,
I am Mehdi, one of your patrons, and writing to you to make a complaint
about the accident happened to me in your supermarket and led to sprain
my ankle.
Yesterday, as usual, I came to your supermarket to buy some groceries
and meanwhile, a dairy truck came and parked in front of your store and
its workers started to unload the pockets of yogurt and bottles of milk in
front of your store, so they blocked the entrance path to your store. As a
result, when I was climbing down the stairs, I sprained my ankle, slipped
and fell on the stairs. Fortunately the injuries were not severe, but
consider if there was and old person instead of me, what could have
happened.
I strongly recommend you not to block the entrance path anymore, or the
consequences could be devastating. So the simplest solution could be
finding an empty place for upcoming goods and unload them in that
place.
I would be pleased to hear your response.
Yours sincerely,
Mehdi Hoseini

Task 2 (Cambridge Book 9 page 77)

Some people say that the best way to improve public
health is by increasing the number of sports facilities.
Others, however, say this would have little effect on
public health and that other measures are required.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinions.
Public health is becoming one of the most important factors for
sustainable growth in societies. Although accessibility of sports facilities
for the public is beneficiary for their health, but some other factors like
public transportation and pollution are important as well.
One of the most popular and widespread notions among the public to
become healthy, is doing sports. So, in my opinion, increasing sports
facilities would be the most effective way. Young generation is susceptible
to do sports, get fit and healthy, as a result, less effort is needed to
persuade them to take part in these kind of actions. Another benefit of
this option would be its price and the budget that is needed for
investment over this issue. It means that, improving the sports spirit
among people is far cheaper than other options such as lowering air
pollution. For example, Tehran municipal has installed sports facilities in
parks across the city for usage of citizens and you can see people, in any
range of age, are using these devices.
On the other hand, we should no neglect the other detrimental factors
such as air pollution, lack of adequate public transportation and so on.
One good instance for this would be the subway, there are more than a
million of people using subway everyday as a means of transportation.
Consider this amount of people decide to ride their own cars to move
around city, this would be a disaster. In another word, government has to
spend more money on public transportation in comparison with sports
facilities. Subsequently, this would lead to decrease of air pollution and
increasing the health ratio among the public.

Finally, in my opinion public health is a multi-variable equation and can

not be solved unless considering all aspects of it.
