ENGINE FAILS TO START

When engine fails to light off within
15 seconds after throttle has been
opened to idle, following action is
recommended:
a.

Throttle Rotate to full closed.

b.

Starter OFF.

c.

Boost pump OFF.

After N1 has decreased to zero, allow

30 seconds for fuel to drain from
engine. Conduct a DRY MOTORING
RUN (paragraph 2-5-E) before
attempting another start.

DRY MOTORING RUN

The following procedure is used to clear an

engine whenever it is deemed necessary to
remove internally trapped fuel and vapor, or if
there is evidence of a fire within engine.
1.

Throttle Full closed.

2.

Boost pump ON.

3.

Fuel switch ON.

4.

Ignitor circuit breaker Pull out.

5.

Starter ON. Allow starter to run for

15 seconds.

6.

Starter OFF.

7.

Fuel switch OFF.

8.

Boost pump OFF.

9.

Ignitor circuit breaker Push in.

10. Allow required cooling period for

starter before proceeding. Follow
normal start sequence as described
on preceding pages.
NOTE
During extreme cold ambient
operations, remain at idle until all oil
temperatures are above 15C.
