In recent times, movies have been associated with propagating social ills and inappropriate

behavior. Do you agree?

The movies industry has been around for several decades. This industry had come out
with commendable movies but also bad movies and still producing movies for peoples
entertainment. Recently, movies have been associated with propagating social ills and
inappropriate behavior. I neither agree nor disagree with this statement because I believe that,
although most movies are good ones but there are also bad ones that bring negative impact.
Firstly, good movies tend to inspire action and put the audience into thought process.
These movies often contain unprecedented ideas or humane acts that are missing in our society.
The audience will emulate these humane acts or even explore the ideas further which are
portrayed on the big screen. For instance, the science fiction movie Lucy portrayed the idea
where human brains capacity to overcome its limitation. I believe that this movie had inspired
more scientists to explore the possibility of human brains. Not surprisingly, good movies will
have moral influence on the audience. The audience will rethink how their actions are affecting
people and things around them. For example, the movie 2012 had brought questions about
human survival and environmental consciousness among human race. Hence, good movies
certainly spark thought process in the audience.
Furthermore, there are a lot of movies that promote teamwork and family solidarity.
These movies showcased how teamwork among members can produce better quality of work and
achieve common objectives. I believe if each audience can capture the idea of teamwork after
these movies; the workplace productivity will inevitably soar upwards and consequently drive
the countrys economy to achieve new high. One classic example of these movies is Apollo 13
where the astronauts work together to devise a strategy to get back to the Earth after massive
internal damage on their spacecraft. Moreover, some movies also promote family solidarity by
inspiring the audience to strengthen relationship between family members. I believe that movie
scenes like family members overcoming adversity together or being able to reunite after
circumstances like disaster had certainly inspired audience to improve relationship with their
family members. For instance, the ending of Fast and Furious 7 had showcased the camaraderie
among the main characters although they are not family members. Why label movies as
inappropriate and negative when the audience can watch good movies? Thus, good movies can
bring a lot of positive impacts on human race.
On the contrary, there are also movies that constitute violence and inhumane acts. These
violent scenes often contain fighting, murdering and bullying scenes that are cold blooded. If the
audiences do not know how to filter negative information, I believe this will lead to violence in
real life. For instance, the movie Irreversible contains raping scene which is so inhumane and
violent. Once exposed to violent elements, I believe the audience will think more about

extremism and leads them into committing crimes if they are not rational enough to think about
the consequences of committing crimes. The movie Ichi The Killer contains brutal scenes like
torturing human and murdering human which are so violent that the movie was banned from
airing in certain countries. Hence, movies with violent and inhumane elements have negative
impact on the audience too.
In conclusion, I believe most movies are good and had brought positive impacts to the
audience although there are bad ones. The audience should be smart to filter the movies that they
want to watch and obey the age restriction of certain movies. By obeying the age restriction,
audience below the age limits are protected from movies that may contain violent elements and
only audience with mature thought and ability to think rationally are allowed to watch these agerestricted movies.
