Zimbra 8.5 Overview


Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) is an open source messaging and collaboration solution, trusted by more than 5,000 companies and public sector customers, and over
100 million end users, in over 140 countries. Zimbra includes complete email, address book, calendar, file-sharing and tasks, and can be accessed from the Zimbra
Web client, MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird and other standards- based email clients and mobile devices. You can deploy Zimbra as a traditional binary install on Linux
or through one of our many Zimbra hosting providers.

Zimbra Subscriptions
ZCS Subscriptions are sold as either Perpetual Licenses or Subscriptions in bundles of 25 mailboxes.
Discounted subscription rates are offered for Emerging Markets (Commercial), Government/Non-Profits and Academic institutions.
Pricing is further discounted by quantity, in 5 tiers:

Tier 1: 25 - 249 mailboxes

Tier 2: 250 - 2499 mailboxes

Tier 3: 2500 - 9999 mailboxes

Tier 4: 10000 - 24999 mailboxes

Tier 5: 25000+ mailboxes

Subscription Types
Perpetual license - Entitles customers to permanent use of the major release version purchased, only. There are no rights to any updates, upgrades, extensions or
enhancements to the software, unless Support and Subscription (SnS) is purchased separately (first year mandatory). SnS is purchased in either 1 or 3 year terms.
Perpetual licenses offer the most cost-effective licensing model for multi-year deployments of Zimbra.
Subscription - Includes software license, support, major and minor release updates over the duration of the subscription - sold on either 1, 2 or 3 year terms. Discounts are
applied for multi-year subscription term purchases. Subscriptions that are not renewed on/before anniversary date will lose the right to use the software.

Zimbra Editions
ZCS is available in two editions that can be mixed and combined in the same installation:

Professional Edition mailboxes include connection to Microsoft Outlook (ZCO), Zimbra Mobile (support for ActiveSync) and includes Email Archiving &
Discovery.

Standard Edition Mailboxes do not include: connection to Microsoft Outlook (ZCO), Zimbra Mobile (support for ActiveSync) or Email Archiving &
Discovery.

Outlook for Mac functionality - optional licensing subscription supporting Exchange Web Services for native Outlook for Mac, 25 mailbox minimum

Zimbra Support is available on four levels, each priced differently:

Standard Support
Provides robust web-based access to self-help facilities: Forums, Wiki, Documents, Product Portal, Updates, Upgrades, Support Portal; as well as Phone Support during
Business Hours only with Unlimited Support Incidents included per year.

Initial Response Target Times for Severity-1 = 2 Business Hours; for Severity-2 = 4 Business Hours; for Severity-3 = 8 Business Hours; for Severity-4 = 8
Business Hours.

Premier Support
In addition to Standard Business Hours support, includes 24x7 support for Severity-1 issues, intended for production systems and urgent assistance.

LSD Information Technology (LSD) recommends that new customers purchase the Premier Support for their first year of subscription, when they are likely to require
more help, and then move to Standard Support on subsequent renewal periods if cost is a concern.

LSD offers three options when implementing the Zimbra solution. These options are as follows:

Onsite Server Installation Zimbra is installed and configured on a server provided by the client and is hosted on site or in a data center.

Offsite / Cloud Server Installation Zimbra is installed and configured on a Cloud server such as Amazon AWS or Google Cloud

Hosted Mailbox Solution LSD will host the Zimbra solution and provide mailboxes on a monthly rental.

Smartphones such as iPhone, Android or Windows-based and Blackberry smartphones are supported. Zimbra can also be accessed via tablets that

What LSD offers with Zimbra


LSD Information Technology (LSD IT) is the proud Gold partner of Zimbra in Southern Africa and can assist with ZCS Network Edition subscriptions and a wide range of
Consulting services (Enablement and Advisory) on the Zimbra solution. These services include the following:

Consulting LSD provides on-site and remote consulting to customers who are looking to move to Zimbra or who require input on their infrastructure and
current Zimbra setup.

Implementation and Installation LSD also does the implementation and configuration of the Zimbra solution, be it in the cloud or onsite. The time
allocated to do the implementation is dependent on the scope of work and the size of the stack.

Migration LSD can assist with the migration of users from their current mail solution over to Zimbra. Please note that mailbox sizes and the amount of
mailboxes varies from customer to customer and also from user to user, for this reason migration is also completed on a time and material basis. This is to
ensure LSD does not over bill or over commit to any customer.

SLA LSD offers ongoing support. This support is offered as telephonic or on-site support.
