CAREERS IN COMPUTERS
10% of Final Mark Due Date:
I. THE PROJECT
Prepare a research project on a career in the field of computers, using the skills and
resources you learned in your Grade 10 Careers course. Choose from the following list
or, after consulting with your teacher, choose your own career in computers.
• Computer Animator, Computer Engineer, Computer Network Specialist, Computer
Programmer, Computer Scientist, Computer Trainer, Database Developer, E-Business
Consultant, GIS Specialist, Multimedia Developer, Project Manager, Technical Writer,
Video Game Developer, Web Developer, Webmaster, Website Designer
You may not submit a report that was done for the Careers
course.
II. WRITTEN REPORT
Select an occupation, a vocation, or a career in the field of computers. Gather suitable
research material to learn as much as you can about the career.
FORMAT -- Prepare and submit a written report with the following format:
• Three- to five-page report based on career research.
• Good writing style with accuracy in grammar, spelling, etc.
• Header on top right of each page with your name and title of assignment
• Footer on bottom right with page number
• Format the report using double spacing.
• Use the nine section headings in the list below.
• No embedded citations or footnotes are needed.
CONTENTS --
A. Cover page – include Name of School, Your Name, Teacher's Name, Due Date, Career Profile
Title, Appropriate Graphics and Designs
B. Table of Contents - Use the format you used in your Careers course.
2. Find at least five pieces of electronic or print research from several sources
(Web sites, CD-ROMs, newspapers, magazines, books, etc.). Do not use the
same Web site for all research. Print each piece of research showing the Web-
site address and printing date. If your research is from a book, photocopy the
title page to show bibliographical evidence. You may also include pamphlets
and brochures as part of your research materials.
3. Include copies of your research findings in your package. Highlight the
necessary information on the printouts to indicate you have read them.
4. Select interesting graphics or pictures from your research to enhance your
project. These can be included in your cover page or table of contents.
