AWSS THREE
REINFORCING
PROGRAMS

At the core of AWS lies applied knowledge of water stewardship. AWS employs three
reinforcing programs to drive improved water stewardship: a standard and
verification system, membership, and training. Each of these programs provides
benefits and work together to build capacity to address our shared water challenges.

OUR FOUNDING PARTNERS

T H E A L L I A N C E F O R W AT E R S T E W A R D S H I P
When water runs short, or is polluted, it
affects us all. Our businesses suffer, the
health of our children is compromised, and
nature ceases to thrive. Water is a shared
and growing challenge and requires a
collaborative approach: water stewardship.
Water stewardship is defined as the use of
water
that
is
socially
equitable,
environmentally
sustainable
and
economically beneficial, achieved through a
stakeholder-inclusive process that involves
site and catchment-based actions.

Through a membership-based structure,

AWS will not only continue to guard the
integrity of the AWS Standard, but also
provide a dedicated learning platform that
drives action on water stewardship.
Furthermore, AWS is now building a series
of training courses to strengthen the
capacity to undertake water stewardship.

Using a partnership-based approach, AWS
