damages to R26, R28, and R29; damage to IC4; reasons for low output from -8V: damage to IC3.
(3) main reasons for high output voltage:
Damage to the sampling circuit VR1; resistance increase of R24; damage to the open circuit DZl; damages to AFC

DC/DC+5V: damages to R18 and R19; damages to IC5 and IC6; reasons for high output from DC/DC+8V:
damages to R26, R28, and R29; damage to IC4; reasons for high output from -8V: damage to IC3.
(4) main reasons for the fluctuating of output voltage:
Capacity reduction or failure of the filtering capacitor, or damages to the filtering capacitor; worsened sampling
stability; worsened stability of the PWM control circuit; worsened stability of the optocoupler IC1; and damages
to IC3, IC4, IC 5 or IC6.
(5) main reasons for loud output noises
Capacity reduction or failure of the filtering capacitor, or damages to the filtering capacitor; worsened sampling
stability; worsened stability of the PWM control circuit; worsened stability of the optocoupler IC1; and damages
to IC3, IC4, IC 5 or IC6.
Failures: No display of any images, texts, or symbols on the monitor. Black screen.

no power supply for the monitor;
failure of the LCD screen;
improper connection between the main unit and the monitor;
no power supply for the main unit;
failure of the main unit.
2Trouble shooting methods
Firstly check the connection between the main unit and the monitor; in case of proper connection,
use external monitor to check whether there is video signal output in the main unit, if there is
display, where the problem happens shall be the monitor.
Check the power input of the monitor; in case there is input, firstly check the lightness and contrast
potentiometers; if the potentiometers have failed, replace them; otherwise where the problem

happens shall be the monitor board, and you shall repair or replace the monitor board.
If there is no display on the external monitor, where the problem happens shall be the main unit.
Then you check the power input of the DSC board; if the input works, repair or replace the DSC board.

display for grey scale and texts is proper.
1Possible reasons:
no echo signal output in the channel board;
failure of some A/D converting circuits in the DSC board;
failure of some image processing circuits in the DSC board;
2Trouble shooting methods:
Firstly check the echo signal output in the channel part; if there is output, where the problem
happens shall be the DSC part; otherwise where the problem happens shall be the channel board part.
If there is no echo signal output in the channels board, where the problem happens shall mostly be
the signal channels and the relevant 8V power source. The signal channels include the gain
control circuit (V39, V1, V27, V8, V9, and V32), logarithmic amplification and detection circuit
(U18, U19, U20, V13, V14, and V15), and the edge enhancement circuit (U21, U22, U23, U24,
and U25). To clarify the level where the problem happens, you may test the wave shapes of the
outputs of various
transistors or
integrated circuits,
and make the judgment by observing.

of CAD-KAS

(http://www.cadkas.com).
If there is echo output in the channel board, where the problem happens shall be the DSC part. The
focus here is the check to the A/D converting circuit, the main memory, the control circuit, and the
image processing circuit. As the display for grey scale and texts is proper, the D/A circuit and its
successive circuits are proper.
Display of images are also affected by the single chip computer D4, thus the check shall also be
done to the single chip computer. Check to the single chip computer is mainly under two methods,
replacement method and characteristics testing method. During your measurement, you shall pay
attention to the wave shape and level property of the control signals from the image processing
circuit under the control of the single chip computer.
Repair or replace the board(s) with problems.
3. Failures: Lack of echo in the vertical direction of screen scanning
PAGE 29
V1.0
Lack of echo in the vertical direction of screen scanning ( means that part of scan lines have no reflecting waves
or have weak reflecting waves, shown by black vertical lines of shadows in the acoustic window, and low
sensitivity during the total picture display process.
1Possible reasons:
Changed with the DEMO
VERSION of CAD-KAS PDF-Editor (http://www.cadkas.com).
Failure of the transmitting circuit;
Failure of the +120V power supply circuit;
Failure of the ultrasonic probe;
Improper connection with the probe socket;
Failure of the pre-amplifier.
2Trouble shooting methods:
Check whether the probe socket is properly connected, and based on the lack of scan echo and low
sensitivity, focus on the performance of the probe; if the crystal of the probe is moistured, or the
control circuit inside the probe is damages, weakening of transmitting/receiving functions will
happen. You may consider to get a probe of the same model for replacement, so as to judge
whether the probe is the trouble source.
If the judgment result is that the trouble source is the main unit, you shall focus on the transmitting
circuit and the transmitting control circuit of the signal plate, and shall mainly consider whether the
transmitting-pulse
generating circuit
works properly
in the way of checking the 5V, +12V, +120V,

and -120V power supply for the channel board.
If the power supply are all under proper voltages, where the problem happens shall be the
transmitting-pulse generating circuit and the transmitting control circuit.
If the lacked echo shows as a black vertical line, where the problem happens shall be the
transmitting control circuit. You may focus on the control signal channel (CN1-CN5), specifically,
the route(s) without control pulse output.
If the lacked echo shows as 4 (or multiples of 4) black vertical lines, where the problem happens
shall be the transmitting-pulse generating circuit or pre-amplifier circuit. You may firstly check the
wave shapes outputted from the various routes of the transmitting-pulse generating circuit,
specifically, the route(s) without control pulse output. If the transmitting-pulse generating circuit
outputs proper wave shapes, you shall subsequently check the pre-amplifier circuit, specifically, the
