Each campus is to (a) review its Sept 16 2013 MASTER SCHEDULE, printed today (8/19/2013), looking for low
enrollment courses (using the blended course selection criteria listed below) and (b) determine if, based upon the
students enrolled, the course must be offered in blended format. The deadline to have blended sections created
and students re-registered from onsite to blended format is close of business Tuesday (8/20/2013), as student
schedules will be accessible on the Student Portal starting Wednesday (8/21/2013).
The blended course selection criteria for Sept 16 2013 academic quarter are:
Students with less than 40.5 hrs earned for alpha programs (or 36 hrs earned for legacy
programs) are not authorized for blended course enrollment. Therefore, alpha courses numbered
11xx, 12xx, and 13xx are unlikely to be scheduled for blended delivery during Sept 16 2013
academic quarter.
Any one-off student request for exception to this restriction must be submitted via email to Lisa
Burr no later than Tuesday Sept 3rd, and indicate the students name, GUID, OCGPA, what
course/session is requested, and the reason for the request.
If one (1) or more sections of a course will be offered onsite, that course should not be offered in blended
format.
If the resident enrollment is <= 4 students and the course is available for blended delivery, that course
(whether general education or core) is to be offered in blended format.
If the resident enrollment is >= 5 students, that course (whether general education or core) is to be
offered onsite.
A list of anticipated Sept 16 2013 academic quarter blended course offerings is found at BLENDED; the session
type(s) [i.e., full-term (DE), first half-term (DEA) or second half-term (DEB)] is indicated. In general, all general
education and core courses from the following programs are available: CM, assoc/bach BA, assoc/bach BAT,
BMG, BMGT, assoc/bach CJ, CFT, ISC, ISS, NSA, PM, PMA, PMA-C, PMA-IT, PL, and PLS. If the campus
determines that it must offer a course with a blended-qualifying low enrollment but the course is not listed on the
BLENDED list, please contact Lisa Burr by email and she will (a) verify if the course is available and (b) if
available, (i) determine the session type and (ii) update the BLENDED list.
The following exceptions are permitted for Sept 16 2013 academic quarter:
If the section contains one (1) or more students who will lose VA/GI Bill benefits due to online or blended
course delivery, the course/section should remain onsite.
The course/section may also remain onsite if the enrollment reaches a minimum of six (6) students.
State/campus exclusions: Blended is not approved in TX, NY, MA, AR and OR. Little Rock AR and
Portland OR are approved to offer blended gen ed only (i.e., no blended core).
To help ensure continuous enrollment and balance the students course load experience, a student should
generally not have multiple DEA sections and/or multiple DEB sections. At no point in the quarter should the
students course load feel greater than 18 hours (or 16 hours, if legacy program). Any of the following fulltime
combinations are acceptable: {full-term + full-term + DEA}; {full-term + full-term + DEB}; {full-term + DEA + DEB};

{DEA + DEA + DEB}; {DEA + DEB + DEB}; and {DEA + DEA + DEB + DEB}. If the students course registrations
result in an imbalance of credit hours during any portion of the quarter (e.g., three (3) DEAs, no DEBs, no fulltime), please consult with Lisa Burr for options such as permission to offer one (1) of the courses during the
opposite six-week period or approval to offer one of the courses onsite. As a reminder, if the student is not
enrolled in any courses during a period of time (e.g., Weeks 1-6), the student must be withdrawn from his/her
program and cannot reenter until the course(s) that he/she needs are available (e.g., Weeks 7-12) a student
may not remain Active in his/her program of study unless he/she is actively enrolled in (i.e., attending) one or
more courses.
In addition to the change in enrollment thresholds for Sept 16 2013 academic quarter, we will also manage
the onsite blended sessions differently than we have in prior quarters. Each campus offering one (1) or
more blended courses must create section offering(s) of ITT999, Integrated Learning (Registrars, see attached
user directions). Each section will be associated with a single day of the week for a 2 hour time slot. An
academic manager (i.e., Chair; AD; ADGS or Dean, not STAFF ZONE as we have assigned in prior quarters)
must be assigned as the Instructor (Instructor) for each ITT999 section. Up to three (3) sections (unless
otherwise approved, by exception, by Dr. Dean Kempter, CAO) of ITT999 may be offered during the Sept 16 2013
academic quarter, and a given academic manager may not be assigned to more than one (1) ITT999 section.
The campus may count no more than two (2) ITT999 sections toward the faculty course loading requirements.
Attendance, but not grades, will be recorded in Web Gradebook by the assigned academic manager for each
ITT999 section. Each student registered for a blended course must also be registered for the
complementary ITT999 section that best coordinates with their class schedule. ITT999 is not credit bearing
and will be auto-cancelled at quarter end; the course will not display on student transcripts. Additional information
regarding ITT999, Integrated Learning, will be communicated in the near future.
