1. Precision

Precision

What is PICV?

Two in one

Simple setting

Perfect balance

Perfect control

Cost saving

Compact design

Precision

How does it work?

A control valve

valve

...and a differential pressure controller

Precision

How does it work?

The differential pressure controller keeps a
constant pressure across the control valve
C
v x
p
Cv
p
Q = constant

Precision

How does it work?

So
So,, stable control with maximal precision

Conclusion:
Constant p across the control valve, resulting in accurate
flow limitation and 100% authority.

Simple

Calculation

Flow = Cv p
No Cv calculations needed !

Simple

Save money on calculations

To calculate a normal control valve you need to size the
Cv value and the Authority

A=

p open valve
p closed valve

(x 100%)

Recommendation: A > 0.5

Time saving on calculation: No Authority calculations

needed, just selection

Simple

Savings during installation/commissioning

Possible savings:
Installation time valve
approx. 70 minutes
Installation time 1
approx. 80 minutes
Installation time 3 approx. 120
minutes
Commissioning (normally at
least 15 min./valve)

Simple

Savings during daily use

In variable flow systems the

available differential pressure
varies

Simple

Savings during daily use

Because of this the

roomtemperature will fluctuate
and the actuator has to
compensate for that

Simple

Savings during daily use

Because the PICV

automatically corrects for
varying pressures

pressures

Simple

Savings during daily use

the actuator needs

much less movements to
maintain a constant
roomtemperature
roomtemperature..

Simple

Savings during daily use

So
So:: More stable
roomtemperatures and a
longer actuator life span.

Ashrae Article
Facts*:
Most (80%) of complaint are of thermal sensation nature.
In average 20% of maintenance cost are due to solving those complaints.
According to survey made on 280 th m2, with 7.500 occupants there were 2300
complaints out of which 1650 were thermal sensation caused by poor control
performance and HVAC faults. In average 1,8 hours of maintenance work was
spend for one complaint, meaning almost 3.000 man hours per year in this
particular case 20% of all energy costs.

Energy Savings

Temparature control performance

Benefits of good temperature control can be seen in:
Less claims and cost related to them
Energy savings due to improved temperature setting policy that
allows smaller temperature difference between building and its
surounding

allows to change setting
policy keeping same
claim ratio but increase
mean temperature and
thus reduce heat

5. Summary

Summary
1. Precision
100% authority at each flow(setting)
Accurate at low

2. Simple
Easy selection
No calculation on kv and authority needed.
Only setting the flow

3. Flexible
For each application we have a sollution

4. Energy savings
With PICV can be saved on energy, so money
