Thetaxicabmetricisalsoknownasrectilineardistance,L1distanceor
norm(seeLpspace),snakedistance,cityblockdistance,Manhattan
distanceorManhattanlength,withcorrespondingvariationsinthenameof
thegeometry.[1]Thelatternamesalludetothegridlayoutofmoststreetson
theislandofManhattan,whichcausestheshortestpathacarcouldtake
