HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Nehemiah 4-6; John 20
Monday, June 13

Jer. 15:21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem
thee out of the hand of the terrible.

TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS

Chronological Bible Reading: Nehemiah 7-9; John 21
Tuesday, June 14

Matt. 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

My Lord and My Deliverer:

Intervene to deliver __________ and __________, who do not yet know
you as their Savior. Pledge yourself personally to rescue them, even in concert
with my verbal and visible witness to them. Do it so you can gain the glory!
No effort of theirs can assist . Neither their strength nor their sinfulness,
their saintliness nor their stubbornness needs to be taken into account. I do not
need to calculate my chances of success, or consult with flesh and blood before
bringing them the gospel. You have power, and the Holy Spirit has
persuasiveness enough without borrowing anything from me.
Stop my doubting thoughts! I do not need to second-guess secondary
means and causes. This work of opening their eyes and then their heart,
undertake it yourself alone, with me only as your tool and instrument. I will be
the glove to your hand as you work in their heart, Great Physician.
Some people are unwilling to help me even when they are able. Others are
unable to help me even though willing. You are both willing, able, available every
moment, and accessible to me right now.
Why should I fear you will not hear me? The promise of verse 21 above
comes from you, therefore I wait upon you, that way my expectation will never
be in vain. The terrible ones are only a terror to those who do not have my God
to flee to. Overrule the rage of others as I make your truth known today.
I do not need to fear their response to my witness. The whale did swallow
Jonah, but found in him a mouthful he could not digest. It may seem like they
swallow me too sometimes, but they are listening. So win them! Amen.

Holy and Faithful Savior:

You gave seven cries from the cross. Each one teaches me something new
about your attributes and offices. They are seven windows through which I can
see you, and even approach you right now in prayer.
I see you as Intercessor, because you cried, Father forgive.
I look on you as King, because you said, To day shalt thou be with me in
Paradise.
I mark you as my Guardian, as you tell John to take care of Mary by saying,
Behold thy mother, and tell Mary to look on John as her replacement son.
I see you as Sufferer, and peer into the dark abyss of agony in your soul.
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
I know you as High Priest when I see the reality of the intensity of your
suffering for me as you state, I thirst, because the torture of your thirst was
brought-on by the fever of wounds shedding blood for me. Then I understand
that the Sufferer can sympathize with me in my pain.
I see you as Finisher of my faith when you cry, It is finished.
But let me steal one more glance, and recognize the voluntary nature of
your suffering as Redeemer. You are not robbed of life. You took your soul in
your own hands and delivered it over to the keeping of another when you said,
Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.
Surely these seven notes make one magnificent scale. Help me listen to
them afresh right now as I begin to prepare my spirit for Summer outreach.
Better yet, let me consult you right now about who I should invite this Sunday to
church with me, that they might gaze at Jesus and the cross with me! Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING

Chronological Bible Reading: Esther 1-2; Acts 2
Thursday, June 16

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: Esther 3-4; Acts 3
Friday, June 17

Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him
that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I
believe; help thou mine unbelief.

MY Father is rich in houses and lands,

He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.
My Fathers own Son, the Savior of men,
Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;
But now He is pleading our pardon on high,
That we may be His when He comes by and by.
I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But Ive been adopted, my names written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.
Im a child of the King, a child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior, Im a child of the King.
Harriet E. Buell, 1877

Neh. 2:4 Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed
to the God of heaven.
Glorious God and Master:
Nehemiah prayed about the ruined walls of his Jerusalem for months. Day
and night the distress of his city was written on his heart. With one single passion
for Gods mission to build a kingdom, you sent Nehemiah an opportunity. The
king queried what Nehemiah wanted to do for Jerusalem. The question was not
followed by an immediate answer, but by an exclamatory prayer!
This is not the prayer that stands knocking at mercys door. No, this was
the concentration of many prior knocks into one hard blow. As a battering ram, it
happened in between the kings question and Nehemiahs answeran interval
not even long enough to be noticed. Yet it was long enough for God to notice.
We seek to obtain similar guidance from you, as your church.
It says Nehemiah was very sore afraid at that moment. He offered his prayer
like a flash of lightning. It was done intuitively from spiritual instinct. It was a
prayer that prevailed with you.
We know this was a silent prayer. In the inmost shrine of his bodily
templein the holy of holies of his secret soulthere did Nehemiah pray. Short
and silent, it was effective, fervent prayer on the spot.
He did not go into his chamber like Daniel did. Daniel was right, but this
was a different case. He did not turn his face to the wall like Hezekiah did. But
then and therewith kings cup in handhe prayed to the God of heaven.
Oh Lord, give us such grace! Make our prayer both intense and direct. We
know who we are praying to: the God of heaven. We are going straight for the thing
we know you want us to accomplish. Bring glory to yourself by us! Amen.

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Nehemiah 10-13; Acts 1
Wednesday, June 15

1 Sam. 18:14-15 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD
was with him. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of
him.
Dear Lord and Master:
It does me no good to say I believe in the principle of amazing grace if I
practice ungodliness. If I want to share your grace with others, then I must feel
its full power to restore, renew and revive, myself. If the grace of God does not
reach so far as to save me from drunkenness, lustfulness, lies and lewdnessor
even from slandering and scowling, then the grace I talk about is very different
from the grace God really bestows. If I can speak of grace and still live in sin,
then either my judgment is off or I am really not saved.
The grace of God comes into my life freely, but it comes to make me
different in character. I am not saved by works, for it is all of grace. Yet that is
not quite the language used regarding David. You were with him as he behaved
himself wisely. If good works do not follow my faith, my faith needs to be revived!
My need for power means a need for prayer. Many of the human writers of
scripture interweave their word from you with a word to you. Constantly I catch
them underlining a principle with a prayer to you. Just like the lumberjack stops
to sharpen his chainsaw without loss of time overall, stopping to pray will make
me faster in my busy-ness!
Lord, I want to be wise. Come teach me! I want to behave wisely, not badly.
Holy Spirit, come sanctify me! I do not know how to act until you show me. I
need the influence of your grace to guide me in your ways, because that is true
revival! So come and assist me. If there is any holiness to which I have not
attained, lift me up. Do this to the glory of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Esther 5-6; Acts 4
Saturday, June 18

Psa. 106:16 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
Holy Master and Lord:
What do I do when people turn against me? Israel owed everything to
Moses as the Lords anointed, yet they would not concede him the authority he
needed to lead them to the land of promise. Some were more openly rebellious
and became leaders of a mutiny, but dissatisfaction was widespread in the nation.
Who can hope to escape envy? How unsober and unreasonable jealousy is.
It is insanity of emotion. Of all the men in the camp, Moses worked the hardest.
They should have sympathized with him, but instead they argued even with
Aaron, the man appointed to offer sacrifices for them. Bad people are often
spiteful against those who would help them the most.
Psa. 106:21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
Your patience was exhausted with the people, because your pastoral leaders
are very dear to you. You overcame all the idols in Egypt, yet Israel wandered.
They bowed before a calfa mockery of Godeven after they saw what the
true God could do.
For the first sin in the wilderness you sent chastening: leanness in their
souls. For the second sin you weeded-out the offenders. For the third you
threatened destruction of them all. For the fourth,
Psa. 106:26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the
wilderness:
For the fifth you actually struck them, and the plague broke out.
Punishment increases with persistence in sin. This should serve as my
warning if I am unrepentant. Subpoena me now before your throne. Bring me
before the cross. Lord, let me forsake all my idols for you today! Amen.

THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)

TITHEWORK

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
