Managing Professional Development is a module where it enables students to assess


and develop a range of professional and personal skills in order to promote future personal
and career development. And in addition it also aims to develop learners’ abilities to
organise, manage and practise a range of approaches to improve their performance as self-
organised learners, in preparation for work or further career development.
This Module emphasis is on the needs of the individual but within the context of how
the development of self-management corresponds with effective team management in
meeting objectives.
Professional development is a broad term that can refer to a variety of education,
training, and support opportunities available to workers. Professional developments have
existed for several decades and have become increasingly diverse.

Importance of Professional Development

In today’s business world, it's important for administrative professionals to continue


learning to keep pace with rapidly changing workplace trends and help their companies
address rising demand created by an improving economy. Continuing education has become
essential to advancing in your carrier. Professional development benefits the individuals in
identifying their own strengths and areas which needs improvement.

Time Management is essential to avoid stress and to get everything done on time.
Prioritisation is an integral part of time management. For an example, In Marketing,
managers may have to prioritise markets or customers and need to understand the process and
criteria by which priorities can be established.
Delegation is essential in ensuring that tactical details of activities are attended to, to
give younger managers and staff experience and chance to develop their skills and when you
act as a motivator.
The essence of the manager’s job is communicating. In both sending messages and
listening to them. It should be done professionally both inside and outside the organisation.
Negotiation with clients and staff is a key aspect of bringing buyers and sellers,
employees and the organisation together in a way which satisfy everyone’s needs.

manager is a key employee of the organisation and must share the organisation’s vision in
order to communicate it effectively to others. Managers are in the business of leading the
business down the path of customer orientation.
Management roles can be very isolated and motivation has to be clear and effective to
get the best out of those working at the customer interface.

Satisfying customers has to be a team effort. Managers have to be able to build teams even
when they have no line authority, for example teams with advertising agencies and
distributors as well as with operations and distributions.
