v1/v2c/v3, RMON protocols and generic platforms.
1U high chassis with optional redundant AC/DC, full range power supply, input/output of alarms and
a variety of SFP modules for various types and reaches of standard fiber/copper interfaces.

DESCRIPTION
L2 and L3 wire speed - L2 and L3 packet switching
is hardware executed with a switch fabric of 12.8
Gbits and a forwarding rate of 9.5 million packets
per second. Level 2 and 3 protocols are software
built-in to create MAC tables and IP routes. L2
tables support up to 16k MAC addresses and routing
tables support 4k host entries and 16k Longest
Prefix Match routes.
Metro Networks The DMSwitch 3000 has up to
512 virtual router interfaces and uses RIPv2,
OSPFv2 and BGPv4 routing protocols.
Resilient Stacking - Up to 8 devices may be
stacked forming a single switch of up to 192 ports.
From the network management perspective the
stacked units are a single entity. Capabilities such
as VLANs, trunking groups and port monitoring
are available among all units in a transparent
mode. In order to guarantee high resiliency the
stacked devices may be interconnected in a ring
topology. Any unit may assume the master condition
guaranteeing a 1:N protection. Insertion and
removal of units in the stack may be done without
re-initializing (hot insertion stack).
Advanced QoS Capabilities - DMSwitch 3000 has
8 queues per port with prioritization algorithms
allowing various definitions such as: priority
definition for certain data flows, weight configuration
for each queue, minimum flow rate definition or
combinations. Classification of service may be done
according to IEEE 802.1p, IP precedence or DSCP
fields or TCP and UDP ports among other
possibilities. Bandwidth control has a granularity
of 64 kbit/s and may be applied to input or output
ports or to a specific packet flow through ACLs.

Robust Security - DMSwitch 3000 features device

operation and maintenance security. All
communication protocols are encrypted. The use
of filters enables the specification of which units
of the network may have management access to
other devices. Advanced security and management
features are available via local and remote Syslog,
RADIUS and TACACS+.
Powerful Management - A complete centralized
FCAPS is available through IERUs DMView
management package using Windows or Solaris
platforms with optional integration with HP
OpenView NNM. The DMSwitch 3000 has a CLI
Command Line Interface with automatic help
menus for command and parameter configuration
through SSH, Telnet and RS232 console. An internal
Web Server with SSL, SNMP agent and RMON is
also available. DMSwitch 3000 allows for the
creation of complex ACLs Access Control Lists,
with multiple comparison and action parameters
enabling the modification, direction, discarding or
prioritization of packets. Tools for network and
cabling connectivity diagnostics are also available.
Cables may be tested for possible interruptions or
short circuits indicating the approximate distance
of the problem. Ports or packet flows may be
monitored, redirecting traffic to a specific port. In
order to simplify the management of firmware and
configuration versions, up to 2 different firmware
versions and up to 4 different configurations may
be stored in the device allowing a choice of which
will be used when initializing the unit. Firmware
upgrades and configuration uploads / downloads
may be done through TFTP or HTTP/HTTPS.

VLANs - Virtual LANs may be built on DMSwitch

3000 using all of the 4094 VLANs defined in IEEE
802.1Q, offering double tagging (Q-in-Q)
functionality and enabling the creation of TLS
services. VLANs may be defined by protocol, MAC
address and IP-subnet. Ports may be overlapped
on port-based VLANs and GVRP protocol may be
used for dynamic configuration. Capabilities such
as double tagging, Dynamic VLAN, Jumbo Packet,
MAC-based and Protocol-based VLAN enable the
design of customized topologies for new services
and complex architecture requirements.
L2 and L3 Multicast - L2 and L3 multicast
applications are supported by 256 L2 groups and
an additional 256 L3 groups, snooping and query
IGMP protocol and PIM protocol.
Protection Mechanisms - Classic, Rapid and Multiple
Spanning Tree protocols are available such as RSTP

DMSwitch 3x24 F2 - dual power supply plus alarms

DMSwitch 3x24 F3 - Fiber-to-Everywhere

DMSwitch SFP module

providing shorter conversion times and EAPS protocol

specific for sub-50 ms Ethernet rings. Port trunking
functionalities enable the grouping of physical ports
into logical ports with automatic load balancing and
with typical sub-200 ms recovery times enabling
the construction of high throughput Metro Ethernet
application topologies with protection and short
failure recovery times.
Multi-Media Capabilities Up to 24 Fast Ethernet
optical interfaces plus 4 Gigabit optical interfaces
on a single 1U unit, supporting a wide variety of
SFP modules for a broad selection of ranges and
fiber types. Added to the stack ability of the
DMSwitch family, up to 192 Fast Ethernet ports are
available, with "pay-as-you-grow" concept for the
F3 model enabling each individual SFP interface to
receive a different connector (see ordering).
