GLOSSARY

1. Concrete Paving Block Also referred to as paving stones used for flooring, driveway
and on a walkway.
2. Solid Concrete Interlocking Paving Unit Paving block which is locked in the ground
using sand. Often has patterned surface
3. Cut-up Rubber Tires Small pieces of cut-up interior part of scrap tires used as partial
substitute for coarse aggregates
4. Aggregate Coarse materials to be used in this study which is crushed gravel from
mountain quarry and the fine material used which was fine sand from river quarry.
5. Curing Treating of the sample through exposure to water. Curing is to be done after 28
days, in this research.
6. Compressive Strength The capacity of the paving block to withstand compressive loads
7. Water-cement Ratio The ratio of the amount of water to the amount of cement by
weight to a constant ratio of 0.56 to all set of mixture.
8. Porosity The quality or state of having small holes that allow air or liquid to pass
through. The ratio of interstices of a material to the volume of its mass.
9. Unit Weight is the weight of a unit volume of a fluid.
