you student teach?
I need one semester of student teaching, and Lewis gives me the opportunity
to get Exposure to a variety of cultures and communities Lewis has
partnered with 60 school districts, 7 counties and 130 schools in the Chicago
area.
I cannot have more than two Cs in my major courses.

I will need to take the Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) test, which
includes:
Subtest 1: Language and Literacy (197): 60 multiple-choice questions
Subtest 2: Mathematics (198): 60 multiple-choice questions
Subtest 3: Science/Social Science (199): 60 multiple-choice questions
Subtest 4: Fine Arts, Physical Development, and Health (200): 50 multiplechoice questions

2. In your own words describe the edTPA process. What will you be required to do to complete
this portion of your license requirement? How are you assessed and what can you do if you are
unsuccessful the first time?

If you are applying after September 1st, 2015, you are required to take the
edTPA.
I will have to upload a professional portfolio to Pearsons site, and specific
items that reflect the competencies evaluated (planning, assessment,
instruction, reflection, and academic language) including video recordings of
me student teaching and interacting with students, lesson plans, student
work samples, analysis of student learning, planning and assessment
documentation, and reflective commentaries must be present. The scores
are valid for 10 years.
If I am unsuccessful the first time, I can:
retake the full assessment: $300 retake fee
retake 3 tasks (Elementary Education only): $300 retake fee
retake 2 tasks: $200 retake fee
retake a single task: $100 retake fee
There is no national limit to how many times you can retake it, but there may
be state limits. You can only register for one retake at a time.
3. How do you apply for licensure? (Be specific)
According to the ISBE:
A passing score on a test of basic skillsdefined as the Test of Academic
Proficiency(TAP
400), ACT Plus Writing, SAT, or an out-of-state test of basic skills that led to
licensure in
another state. Test of basic skills scores are valid indefinitely.
A passing score on the applicable content-area test(s). Content tests are
valid for10 years.
A passing score on the APT or edTPA. APT/edTPA scores are valid for 10
years.
o If student teaching was completed prior to August 31, 2015: Assessment of
Professional Teaching (APT) test or edTPA
o If student teaching was completed September 1, 2015 or after: edTPA
