MASS INTENTIONS

PEACE

Monday, July 4, 2016

The greeting of peace at

Mass adds substance to a
message of todays readings: peace is relational.
When we greet in peace the
person near us at Mass, we
share the touch of a handshake or embrace, sincere
eye contact, and friendly
words.
The scriptures speak of
a similar peace. The first
reading from Isaiah describes the peace of the holy
city, Jerusalem, a place of
prosperity and comfort
where the LORDs power
shall be known to his servants (Isaiah 66:14c).
The Christian understanding of peace changes

slightly. Paul writes of the

peace and mercy on all
who are created anew. Jesus
describes a feeling of peace
that will rest on those who
accept his disciples and their
message.
Peace is both an absence
of strife and a personal
blessing. May we always
and sincerely bring peace to
our own lives as we share it
with others.

From the Pastors Desk

Dear Parishioners and Visitors of St. Albert the Great!
We continue vacation time; time for God, time for Family, and ourselves.
We the people of God, always should be connected with Jesus and with one
another. During this time we pray:
Lord, in our work and play we know your goodness and love. Bless us with joy as we set
out our days of vacation. Let them bring us rest and refreshment. Protect us as we travel, give
us gentle weather and peaceful times. Be with us at the meals we enjoy and in the activities we
share. In all we do, let us grow in our love for you and for each other. We ask this through
Christ our Lord. Amen.
Couple days ago during my Pastoral Leadership, called Spirit and Vision in Mundelein
I heard very wise words of St. Padre Pio: Pray, Hope and Don't Worry!.
Two days ago, I started my new assigmnent here. I am so happy be with you and serve you
once again. I am here with two new associate pastors; Fr. Wojciech Oleksy and Fr. James Beath. I
still keep in my heart and mind St. Padre Pio words. Please, keep us in your daily prayers. In Jesus
name we can renew ourselves, we can renew our parish and families.
In Jesus name and with your help we can do everything! I invite you to cooperation and
communication!
Today, in our parish bulletin you can read more information about Fr. Wojciech
and Fr. James.
Happy Independence Day!
Jesus, I trust in You!

Fr. Mariusz
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

Some say tomatoand some

say tomahtoyou know the old
song. What do you say when you
arrive at church and see a font prepared, a baby in the wings, the paschal candle burning? Well, maybe
you will say that were having a
baptism today, or maybe you say
we are having a christening. The
proper term is baptism, since that is
the name of the sacrament. But the
persistent use of christening in our
culture, probably from due to the
influence of the Episcopal Church, is
interesting.
Baptism, an ancient word, is
from the Greek meaning to dip or to
Page 3

dunk. Christening is an Old English

word that describes perfectly well
that more than getting splashed with
water, the person being baptized is
being Christ-ed. No matter what
you call it, theres always water involved, and then an anointing with
chrismfragrant olive oil consecrated as a sign of Christs presencepoured upon the brow as we
say, As Christ was anointed Priest,
Prophet, and King, so may you live
always as a member of his body,
sharing everlasting life.
So, in being Christ-ed, you are
conformed to his image, your life is
expected to be a retelling of his life
in miniature and youeven though

you may be squirming or sleeping

are commissioned to be a priest, a
prophet, a king. This means that you
are called to be one who worships,
you are called to speak the truth, you
are called to shape the world and
exercise right judgment. That is the
deepest treasure of our tradition, and
every time you gather to celebrate a
baptism, you renew your vows precisely so that you can be more
Christ-ed. No matter what vocabulary you assign to the liturgy, the key
is transformation of the human person in the community of the Body of
Christ.

Fr. Wojciech Oleksy

Dear St. Albert the Great
parish community,
My name is Fr.

with great joy and
excitement I have received
the decision of Archbishop
Blas Cupich to appoint me
the associate pastor at St.
Albert the Great parish
community.
......I am originally from
Poland born as the last of

four children. My entire

family lives back there. In
the year of 2002 after
graduating from high
school, I entered the
seminary in Tarnw,
Poland. After finishing my
philosophical studies in
2006, I decided to come to
the US and to continue my
theological studies at
Mundelein Seminary. On
May 21, 2011, I was
ordained a priest, and I

began my priestly ministry

first, at St. Thomas of
Villanova in Palatine, and
then at St. Josaphat in
Chicago, which I
continued up until now.
I am looking forward
to getting to know you all.
As I begin my ministry at
St. Albert the Great, I ask
you to pray for me.
Fr. Wojciech Oleksy

A Thank You Note From Fr. Michael L. Zoufal

Dear Parishioners,
Thank you for the beautiful farewell that you had for me last weekend. Your kindness and generosity toward
me will always be fondly remembered. Because of your generosity I was able to make a $1,500 donation in the
name of St. Albert the Great Parish to the Mission of Our Lady of Angels in the West Humboldt Park area of Chicago. The Fathers and Religious Sisters at Our Lady of Angles Parish have a tremendous outreach program to the
poor and needy on the Westside of Chicago. The donation I gave in your name will go a long way in helping
families that are suffering. I am most grateful for this kindness you have allowed me to do in your name. May
the Lord reward you abundantly for all the sacrifices you make in His Honor and Glory.
I promised many of you to give you my new address; it is as follows:
Saint Joseph Church, 114 North Lincoln Avenue, Round Lake, Illinois 60073
My door is always open to you when have the time to visit. Fr. Michael
