MOTIF XS Drum Performer

The product Drum Performer includes:

40 User Drum Voices (Drumkits)

40 Arpeggio-Performances (a part of them are modified factory performances)
128 User Arpeggios (a part of them are Remix-versions of Preset arpeggios)
410 User Waveforms
200 MB Samples

Drum Performer offers new acoustic dums produced in several sampling sessions.
The drumsounds are sounding realistic, fat and with much pressure.
Because most samples were recorded without effects they can be processed flexible with
effects and EQs.
Because of special recording procedures there is a very big variety of drumsounds.
Each drum instrument is availabe in several different versions.
Although you receive several complete drumkits the main focus are big collections of kicks,
snaredrums und cymbals, which are combined to additional Instrument Kits.
Drum Performer offers a huge drum library including User Waveforms combined to 40
Drumits, separated to 2 volumes. You easily can modify them to individual favorite kits.
For sampling this drum-equipment was used:

Although for producing drumsounds only real drums were used, because of experimental
edits the soundset include also impressive electronic type drums, which are useful for some
kinds of trendy music like Chill Out, Ambient, RnB or other Electronics.

Drumkits und User Arpeggios

For keeping full compatibility with the Preset Drum Arpeggios of MOTIF XS as well as the
GM/XG-Standard all new drumkits are using same structure:

C0 F#0
G0 B2
C3 C5
C#5 - C6

= Preset Waves - XG/GM compatible

= New Drumsounds (Kicks, Snares, Hi Hats, Toms, Cymbals)
= Preset Waves - XG/GM compatible
= additional Kicks/Snare collection (new drumsounds)

The main key range of the drumkits is G0 - B2. Here you find the combinations of new
drumsounds.
Additional to the Preset Drum Arpeggios you can use 128 new User Arpeggios.
Many of the new Drum Arpeggios were recorded live with the Yamaha DTXtreme.
A part of the User Arpeggios are Remix-Versions of MOTIF XS Preset Arpeggios.
Performances
A special highlight of this soundsets are the 40 performances.
The first 16 performances are completely new programmed. The others are factory
performances using the new drumkits and user arpeggios and including some more edits.
The inspiring performances are very useful for checking the new drumkits in a musical
context.
Even live musicians will love the performances with the new drumkits because they can be
used for training sessions or preparing band arrangements.

Loading Voices to Motif XS

Because the number of User Drumvoices of MOTIF XS is limited to 32, the set is separated
to two volumes:

The file DrumPerformerStudio.X0A (Type All) includes 32 new Drumvoices

(Drumkits), 128 Drum-Arpeggios, 40 Performances, 285 User Waveforms and 120
MB Samples. The drum-instruments were sampled directly with mics close to the
recorded instrument.

The file DrumPerformerLive.X0A (Type All)includes 8 new Drumvoices (Drumkits),

128 Drum-Arpeggios, 32 Performances, 125 User Waveforms and 80 MB Samples.
The drum-instruments were sampled in stereo with the available room acoustic. The
performances and user arrpeggios are basically same as volume 1. But the
performances are incuding the drumvoices of this file.

If you received the set with download or CD-ROM you have to copy the file to an USBdevice before loading to MOTIF XS.
If you have connected a USB CD-ROM drive to MOTIF XS you can load files directly from
CD-ROM.
For loading the file Installation of optional DIMMs (2 x 128 MB or more) is needed.
With loading an all-file all user data of Motif XS will be overwritten (User Voices,
Performances, Master, User Arpeggios, Songs, Pattern, Waveforms, Utility-Settings).
Please save your data before loading files.
You can recall Factory Voices with Factory Set (UTILITY JOB).
After loading the data with file-type all you will find the new voices in USER DR.
You can load single voice banks using File-Type Voice:

Select VOICE MODE

Select FILE MODE - Type Voice
Dir = mark the file you want to laod and open voice list with ENTER (wait some
seconds!).
Select source bank USER DR
Move cursor to "Bank" and select target bank USER DR.
Move cursor to "voice" and select voice-number "all"
Press SF2 LOAD - YES.

You can also load single voices using File-Type Voice. The procedure is similar like
above descripted. But in this case you have to select first a single voice in the voice list and
then select a target bank + voice.
This way you can combine drumvoices of both delivered files.

Drum Voice Edit

Here you get some informations about modifying or editing the drumsounds quickly.
Reverb and Chorus Send
At the beginning of a production you often want to use dry drumsound.
You can adjust the global reverb send of the drumkits using the REVERB-knob.
If you want to adjust the reverb send of single drum-instruments (keys) you can do it with
this steps:
EDIT
Number key 1 (for Element-Edit)
Select key
F1- Oscillator - Reverb Send
Additional you can use the Chorus knob for adjusting a delay effect in many drumkits.
Adjusting Equalizer (EQ)
The equalizer can be adjusted using the knobs of the row TONE 2.
The values are shown in Voice Play Mode - F3 EG/EQ.
In Performance- or Mixing Mode you can adjust the EQ in the parts (EDIT F5 EQ).
Assignment of Drum-Instruments
In Voice Edit Mode you can do individual edits of drum-instruments.
The selection of the drum-instruments will be done with the keyboard.
You can assign alternate drum-Instruments to keys with following steps:

F1- Oscillator
Wave Bank (USR = new drumsamples)
Wave-Number

Insert Effects
Basically you dont need Insert effects for the new drumsounds.
Many drumkits are programmed completely without Insert effects. But other drumkits are
using Insert Effects for special sounddesign with effects like Compressor, EQ, Auto Wah,
LoFi and others.
Please note that you cannot assign individual effect sends (reverb and chorus) for drum
instruments (keys) assigned to insert effects.
