Student Learning Outcomes

1. Understand vector functions,
operations with them (including
differentiation and integration), and
their application to motion in space

Course Objectives
1.1 Apply calculus to vectors and vector-valued
functions

2. Understand real functions of several

variables, operations with them
(including differentiation and
integration), optimization of
multivariable functions, and their
application to physical problems

2.1 Describe and use partial differentiation

3. Compute multiple integrals in

Cartesian, polar, cylindrical, and
spherical coordinates, and apply
multiple integrals to physical
problems;

3.1 Solve multiple integrals.

4. Solve problems using the

Fundamental Theorem of Line
Integrals, Green's Theorem, the
Divergence Theorem, and Stokes'
Theorem.

4.1 Apply Greens theorem to evaluate line

integrals around a bounded area.
4.2 Apply the Divergence theorem and Stokes
theorem to specific problems.

2.2 Apply Lagrange multipliers to solve problems.

3.2 Find the Jacobian using determinant notation.

Instructional Methods
.
As an instructor, I want my students to be successful. I feel that it is my
responsibility to provide you with knowledge concerning the field of mathematics,
organizing and monitoring the success of each student with homework that
allows you to connect the information that you learn in this course to applications
in other course work and life in the real world.
As a student wanting to learn about the field of mathematics, it is your
responsibility to read the textbook, submit assignments on the due dates, study
for the reviews and exams.

Testing policy:
EXAMS ARE ONLINE ON EAGLE ONLINE. (There are 4
exams)
HOMEWORK IS ONLINE ON WEBASSIGN.
FINAL IS ONLINE-ONSITE ON EAGLE ONLINE.
Grading policy:
Your course grade is based on the following standard HCCS scale.
A: 90-100, B: 80-89, C: 70-79.

D: 60-69, F: 0-59

Course Average = [ (sum of the best three of four exams) + WebAssign + 2 Final] / 6
If final exam grade is less than 40, then it will be tripled and the above sum will be
divided by 7.

Make-up policy:
Make-up exam will not be given in this course for any reason.
Final exam will be replaced for one missed exam.
Homework policy:
All homework must be completed online on WebAssign (Please look at the
syllabus in the course home page for class key)
The sections corresponding to each exam should be completed BEFORE
taking the exam.
Attendance:
Make sure to log in to the class as soon as it opens. If you do not log in
during the first few days you will be marked absent and the registration
office will drop you from the class.
