The legal and regulatory frameworks are having the meaning of various laws and regulations
and summaries the most important legal requirements which the organization must be able to
meet them. These ones are making sure that the organization is considering the country
legislation and it make sure that the safety procedures are being taken by employees within their
working environment.
The Equality Act 2010 is bringing together various old legislations under one law. This is
covering aspects regarding workplace discrimination which include sex, age, race, religion and
discrimination. Is including also realignment regarding gender, maternity or pregnancy.
The Equality Act covers 9 protected characteristics. Victimization occurs when an employer
treats an employee unfairly because they have brought a claim under the Equality Act. The Sex
discrimination act 1975/97 states that employees are protected from discrimination on the basis
of their gender or sexuality under the Equality Act 2010.

When the organization is recruiting people its applying various protections against
discrimination which regards the employment team, the individuals who are having access to
training and promotion, as well as various benefits, facilities and dismissal. Discrimination
which regards the individual se occurs when potential or employees receive an unfair treatment
because of their gender.

TESCO is having a careers website in which the company promotes the career opportunities.
When the company recruit its employees it aims to attract talented people and retain them by
offering the best fit for jobs.
TESCO has an online process of recruitment that involves speed and efficiency which make
the candidates application easier and the company selection more quickly. As well as Sainsbury,
TESCO advertise in an efficient way their job vacancies such as websites for managerial position
and local papers, their stores and job centre for other various jobs.(TESCO,Plc)
TESCO has also an Internal Talent Programme (SITP) in which recruit from his current
employees someone who wants to make a change in his job. If there are no positive results they
advertised the job on intranet and set up a deadline.
After the recruitment process it must follow the selection process which represents the final
interview and the decision making because it cover the appointment and decision formalities.
The company has recruitment selectors who carefully study each applicant in order to choose
the right one for the job. This process is a reductions one which involves choosing the right men
for the right job. (Tesco,PLC)
There are various true methods which the company is using for selecting qualified applicants
for a target job. These are including the referral programs of employees and former employees.
HR trainees are having important roles and responsibilities within the process of selection. The
selection process is consisting from various important tasks. The department of HR is taking part
in the process of selection such as:
It selects the recruitment and selection panel: The HR department it selects the recruitment
and selection panel in order to choose the most appropriate person for the appointment. The
members of recruitment and selection panel are being selected by Tesco manager of human
resource. Within the company there are three types of employees so the department of HR is
selecting three recruitment and selection panels. For each panel there must be present the
manager of the particular department. The recruitment and selection panel is interviewing the
new candidates.

make a short list of applicants by using different short listing method. Some popular short listing
Page 7 of 15

methods are IQ test, taking examination by using MCQ examination, written exam, etc. The
short list of applicant should be given to the human resource department as soon as possible.
After getting the short list the human resource department arrange interview for short listed
candidates (Stebe, 2013)
Interviews: Tesco selection panel is giving an interview of the selected candidates. Within the
interviewing process they are being asked questions about their cultural and educational
background, their experiences and knowledge.

the selection panels by attaining minimum criteria for those jobs for final appointment. The
human resource department gives final appointment statement to those applicants who are
recommended by recruitment and selection panels. (Dessler, 2011)
1.4 Evaluate own contribution to the selection process
My own contribution regarding the process of selection is that I have prepared the necessary
documentation for the person who select but also I have had various responsibilities such as
being able to gather individuals around and making an advertisement regarding the selection
process.
Also another contribution of my own was that I have selected the panel for the recruitment
and selection process of employees and I was able to develop a short list with the name of the
applicants who had taken part of the interview process. I have successfully developed my role
within these selection activities.

There is an organized process in which

2.4 Explain ways to motivate staff to achieve objectives

Having a reward program TESCO can successfully promote its business so that job
performance can be in line with their business objectives. Employees performances are
significantly increased by an effective reward system. The company ca motives its employees in
order to increase the quality and quantity of their work and this reward system can be a powerful
influence on people behavior, performance and motivation.
Your employees are at the heart of your business. Rewarding your staff when they
effectively fulfill your directives is an often overlooked yet critical management tool. When
properly administered and communicated, a reward program can create and maintain a highly
motivated employee force working for the prosperity of your business.
The reward system is defined as the mix of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards provided by the
employer. It also consists of the integrated policies, processes, practices and administrative

procedures for implementing the system within the framework of the human resources (HR)
strategy and the total organizational system.

(Bratton and Gold,2003)

Extrinsic rewards is a motivation method such as promotion, bonuses an raise of salary and
on the other hand intrinsic reward represent motivation which gives personal satisfaction such as
trust, recognition and feedback.
Having a reward system the company will become more competitive and help to retain the
most important employees but also is helping to reinforce the image of the company.

Task 3

3.1 Assess the benefits of team working for an organization

When people speak with their team in a language other than their native one, it often affects
their ability to interact with the group. It potentially affects spontaneity, clarity of expression
(vocabulary and pronunciation), and willingness to express ideas. This is more challenging if
your culture is indirect or your personal style is more introverted.(Solomon&Charlene,2009)
Benefits of team working:
By working in a team the projects will be completed earlier thats to the fact that are
many people involved.
It can be found a mutual support: because people will rely on other to share their goals,
they may receive encouragement and assistance while they are working on a task.
People may feel a greater sense of accomplishment because they may achieve goals that
they could not achieve if they had worked alone.

3.2 Demonstrate working in a team as a leader and member towards specific goals, dealing
with any conflict or difficult situations
Page 12 of 15

In order to efficiently deal with conflicts managers are organizing weekly with their
employees in order to find more about their progress and to be able to choose the right solution
for the company problems and to make sure that all thinks are going well and is establishing a set
of objectives and check them periodically.
Team members trust one another, all work towards a collective decision, and hold one
another accountable for making good work. When a team has a positive dynamics people
researchers have found that his members are creative as an average group. In a group with poor
group dynamics, people's behavior can disrupts work. As a result, the group may take wrong
decisions, or may not come to any decision, or they can make the wrong choice, because the
teams members could not explore all options effectively.
http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/improving-group-dynamics.htm
Leaders may deal with various conflicts that would appear in team working by giving its
employees a clearly job description so that everyone knows what are their job and implement an
effective communication so that all problems to be discussed among the team members. In order
to resolve rapidly conflicts leaders must minimize it and try to identify and understand the
tension among people.
3.3 Review the effectiveness of the team in achieving the goals
When all worked like a team, in order to resolve the problems of companys projects, the
success key was communication. Communication with one another is an important part of good
teamwork and a group of people who share information and ideas freely with one another have a
definite advantage in achieving what they set out. (Jackson, 1998)
They ideas must be communicated across the levels of the team so that all team members
know what others feel and their views of the work. Another important element when worked as a
team is to have respect for one another, to support and appreciated all members efforts.
In organization team members trust one another, all work towards a collective decision, and
hold one another accountable for making good work. When a team has a positive dynamics
Page 13 of 15

people researchers have found that his members are creative as an average group. In a group with
poor group dynamics, people's behavior can disrupts work. As a result, the group may take
wrong decisions, or may not come to any decision, or they can make the wrong choice, because
the teams members could not explore all options effectively.
