Welcome to the Social Studies Department at PCHS! We are so happy you joined us on this
adventure. During our journey together, we will seek to maintain a secure learning environment.
Students will be expected to participate and help maintain a positive attitude throughout the
class. For students to succeed in class, they must be willing to work on a team, as well as
cooperate and respect classmates and teachers. In return, the teachers will seek to ensure that
each student receives the help and respect they deserve.
Departmental Expectations in the Class:
1. RESPECT
a. Students must respect teacher and classmates
b. Teachers will respect student in return
c. This includes respecting teacher and fellow classmates property and the classroom
2. CELLPHONE FREE ZONE
a. Handbook states that cellphones should not be on students on school campus
3. FOOD AND DRINK
a. Closed Containers only!!
b. All food should be either put away or consumed by the end of bell work.
4. ABSENCES/TARDIES
a. Students are responsible for all make-up work if missed
b. Handbook states that after 3 tardies students will receive a referral.
5. BATHROOM PASSES (Emergency Only)
If you have a medical condition for frequent restroom use please have parent
contact the school nurse.

8. Post It Notes

CONSEQUENCES AND REWARDS
A. Behavior consequences: Any action that disrupts learning, teaching, administrative, or
extracurricular activity is subject to disciplinary action. Any behavioral infractions,
ignored expectations or violated classroom rules, will be dealt with as outlined below.
Any infraction that is more serious that previously mentioned infractions will be dealt
with accordingly.
Levels of Consequences:
One Warning (verbal/written/expressive)
Two Student-teacher conference, written assignment, and parent contact
Three Discipline referral & parent contact
B. Behavior rewards Students may receive rewards for desired behaviors. Prizes may
include bonus points, restroom tickets, candy, drinks, special privileges, positive parent
contact, etc.
Behavior worth rewarding:
Particularly impressive responses in class discussions
Appropriately participating in class discussions
Following directions
No tardies
Exemplifying appropriate behavior
Peer assistance with no prompting
