1.

May everyone be happy.

May everyone be free from misery.
May no one ever be separated from their
happiness.
May everyone have equanimity, free from
hatred and attachment.
2.
With my body, speech, and mind, humbly I
prostrate,
And make offerings both set out and
imagined.
I confess my wrong deeds from all time,
And rejoice in the virtues of all.
Please stay until samsara ceases,

And turn the Wheel of Dharma for us.

I dedicate all virtues to great enlightenment.
3.
We gently caress you, the Earth; our planet
and our home.
Our vision has brought us closer to you,
making us aware of the harm we have done
to the life-network upon which we ourselves
depend.
We are reminded that we have poisoned your
waters, your lands, your air.
We have filled you with the bones of our dead
from war and greed.
Your pain is our pain.
Touching you gently, we pray that we may
become peace-bringers and life-bringers so
that our home in its journey around the Sun
will not become a sterile and lonely place.
May this prayer and its power last forever.

4.

Water flows over these hands.

May I use them skillfully
to preserve our precious planet.
5.
Over cherry blossoms
white clouds.
Over clouds
the deep sky.
Over cherry blossoms
over clouds
over the sky,
I can climb on forever.
Once in spring
I with god
had a quiet talk.
- Shuntaro Tanikawa

6.
I am a tiny link in a chain of love that
stretches around the world.
I must keep my link bright and strong.
I will try to be kind and gentle to myself.
I will try to be kind and gentle to every living
thing, and protect all who are weaker than
myself.
I will try to think pure and beautiful thoughts,
to say pure and beautiful words, and to do

pure and beautiful deeds, knowing that what I

do now will affect my happiness and misery.
May every link in this chain of love become
bright and strong and may we all attain
perfect peace.
7.
I reverently pray for
eternal harmony in the universe.
May the weather be seasonable,
may the harvest be fruitful,
may countries exist in harmony,
and may all people enjoy happiness.

8.
May I be a guard for those who need
protection,
A guide for those on the path,
A boat, a raft, and bridge for those who wish
to cross the flood.
May I be a lamp in the darkness,
A resting place for the weary,
A healing medicine for all who are sick,
A vase of plenty, a tree of miracles.
And for the boundless multitudes of living
beings
May I bring sustenance and awakening,
2

Enduring like the earth and sky,

Until all beings are freed from sorrow
And all are awakened.
- Shantideva, Indian Buddhist sage 700 A.D.
(Prayer performed each morning by His
Holiness the Dalai Lama.)
9.
Sky is free.
Ocean is blissful.
Trees are divine.
Rocks are enlightened.
So are we.
Who is still searching ...
for what?
- Anam Thubten Rinpoch
10. Meal Blessing
Before meals:
I take this nourishment in gratitude.
This food is the gift of the whole universe;
Each morsel is a sacrifice of life.
May I be worthy to receive it.
May the energy in this food
Give me the strength
To transform my unwholesome qualities
into wholesome ones.
After meals:
Thank you in deepest gratitude for sustaining
my life.

11.
For all the ways that I harm the myself,
Negate, doubt, belittle myself, judge or be
unkind to myself
through my own confusions,
I forgive myself.
12.
So, with a boundless heart,
Should one cherish all living beings
Radiating kindness over the entire world
Upwards towards the sky
Downwards towards the depths
Omitting none.
May

free from danger.
loved.

13. Meal Blessing

A circle of friends is a blessed thing.
Sweet is the breaking of bread with friends,
For the honor of their presence at our board.
I am deeply grateful.
Thanks be to you for friendship shared.
Thanks be to the earth for food prepared.
Bless the cup, bless the bread,
Peace and harmony upon each head.

14. Meal Blessing

This food is a gift of the entire universeThe land, the sky, the ocean, and the work of
many people.
May I be a presence that deserves to receive
this.
May I learn the right way of eating.
May I receive energy and be protected from
illness.
May I walk the path of wisdom and love.
When I eat, may I not forget the people who
are now suffering from hunger in the world.
In this food, I see the presence of the entire
universe supporting me.
15. Meal Blessing
This food comes from the earth, the ocean,
and the sky.
It is the gift of the entire universe and the
fruit of much hard work.
I vow to live a life which is worthy to receive
it.

16.
The best kind of people are the ones that
come into your life and make you see the sun
where you once saw clouds. The people who
believe in you so much that you start to
believe in you, too. The people that love you
simply for being you. The once in a lifetime
kind of people.
17.
May all beings be happy, content, and
fulfilled.
May all beings be healed and whole.
May all have whatever they want and need.
May all be protected from harm and free from
fear.
May all beings enjoy inner peace and ease.
May all be awake, liberated, and free.
May there be peace in this world
And throughout the entire universe.

18.
I am of the nature to grow old.
There is no way to escape growing old.
I am of the nature to have ill health.
This is no way to escape having ill health.
4

I am of the nature to die.

This is no way to escape death.
All that is dear to me and everyone I love are
of the nature to change.
There is no way to escape being separated
from them.
My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my
actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.
-Thich Nhat Hanh
19.
If I have harmed anyone in any way either
knowingly or unknowingly through my
confusions, I ask their forgiveness.
If anyone has harmed me in any way through
their own confusions, I forgive them.
If there is a situation I am not yet ready to
forgive, I forgive myself for that.
For all the ways that I harm myself, negate,
doubt, belittle myself,
Judge or be unkind to myself through my own
confusions, I forgive myself.
20.
In the end, only three things matter: how
much you loved, how gently you loved, and
how gracefully you let go of things no meant
for you.

21.
A man once told Buddha, I want happiness.
Buddha replied, First, remove I; thats ego.
Then remove want; thats desire. And now
all youre left with is happiness.
22.
Forgiveness doesnt excuse behavior.
Forgiveness prevents others behavior from
destroying your heart.
23.
Let us rise up and be thankful,
for if we didnt learn a lot today, at least we
learned a little.
And if we didnt learn a little, at least we
didnt get sick.
And if we did get sick, at least we didnt die.
So let us be thankful.
24. Meal Blessing
We venerate the three treasures:
Teachers, friends, and the wild beauty and
power of earth,
And are thankful for this meal:
The work of many people and the sharing of
other forms of life.

25.
Full of equanimity,
of benevolent thought,
of tender thought,
of affectionate thought,
of useful thought,
of serene thought,
of firm thought,
of unbiased thought,
of undisturbed thought,
of unagitated thought,
of thought fixed on the practice of discipline
and wisdom,
having centered on knowledge which is a firm
support of all thoughts,
equal to the ocean in wisdom,
equal to the mountains in knowledge,
rich in many good qualities
Today, I will seek to attain perfect wisdom.

26.
Just as the soft rain fills the streams, pours
into the rivers and joins together in the
oceans,
So may the power of every moment of
goodness flow forth to awaken, support, and
heal all beings:
Those here now, those gone before, those yet
to come.
By the power of every moment of goodness,
May heart wishes be soon fulfilled,
as completely and shining as the bright full
moon.
May all dangers be averted and all disease be
gone.
May no obstacle come across the way,
But if they do, may there be a stepladder
near by and a helping hand.
May there be fulfillment and long life.
For all in whose heart dwells respect, who
follow the wisdom and compassion of the
way,
May life prosper in the blessings of old age,
beauty, happiness, and strength.
27.
I will
I will
I will
I will

be bright and strong.

be kind and gentle to every living thing.
protect all who are weaker than I am.
think pure and beautiful thoughts.
6

I will say pure and beautiful words.

I will do pure and beautiful deeds.
28.
May every creature abound in well-being and
peace.
May every living being, weak or strong, the
long and the small, the short and the medium
sized, the mean and the great,
Seen or unseen, dwelling far off or near by,
already born or waiting to be born
Attain inward peace.
Let no one deceive another,
Let no one despise another in any situation,
Let no one, from antipathy or hatred, wish
evil to anyone at all.
Just as a mother, with her own life, protects
her only child from hurt,

So within yourself foster a limitless concern

for every living creature.
Display a heart with boundless love for all in
the world,
In all its height and depth and broad extent.
Love unrestrained, without hate or enmity.
Then as you stand or walk, sit or lie, until
overcome by drowsiness, devote your mind
entirely to this.
This is living a life divine.
29. Meal Blessing
I honor all the living things who gave their
lives, and all the beings whose efforts
brought this food before me. May the
strength and vitality acquired by this meal be
used for the benefit of all living beings.
