hydrocarbons.
Increasing demand for higher destruction removal
efficiency (DRE) of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
from remissions vent gases or any other gas-processing
systems was the primary motive for designing the
combustor. Typically, any open-flare systems have DRE
between 95% and 98%. With environmental regulations
becoming more stringent, the SHV Combustor provides
increased comfort for your process by burning off all your
emissions to flames. The combustor guarantees more than
99.9% DRE of all VOCs.

Features and Benefits of the SHV Combustor

Natural-draft thermal oxidizer system requires no
refractory
Provides high DRE of all VOCs (more than 99.9%)
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved stack
testing results to confirm DRE claims
Reduced fuel gas requirements
Virtually eliminates liquid collection/disposal when used
with a vapor superheater
Single unit can process multiple waste gas streams

Emission Control Applications

The combustors primary application is controlling gases
from the glycol dehydration process, but it also can be
applied to any oil and gas facility that requires VOC emission
control such as amine tail gas, storage tank vapors and
casing gases.

SHV Combustor System

The SHV Combustor system can be supplied with new
equipment or retrofitted to existing glycol dehydration
systems. The waste gases, a combination of liquids
and vapors, flow through an optional exchanger (vapor
superheater) where they are heated by the reboiler
stack flue gas.
The superheated vapors are piped through an inline
arrestor, which retards flame propagation. The vapor and
condensate liquid flow into the combustor inlet. The liquids
are gravity-fed into the liquid collection chamber (blowcase)
and the superheated vapors are inspirited to the lowpressure side of the eductor.
Natural gas is used as the supplemental fuel, increasing the
Btu level of the waste gases stream to a level required for
complete combustion.
