ANNUAL REPORT January 2007-December 2007

Welcome to PoCoMo Youth Services Society. This report reflects
PoCoMo’s accountability to you, the members of the Tri-City
community.
We have worked hard to fill a huge gap in service for at risk youth. In
2007 we connected with more than 2,300 youth, and as a result developed
a deeper sense of trust and compassion for the youth in our community.
And the youth found a warm smile, a safe place to go, information and
support, and trusting friends. We built valuable relationships with these
youth and as a result of these relationships know that more youth are
able to move forward with a sense courage, hope and purpose.
PoCoMo board and staff have been involved in many community
initiatives and events, sharing its insight and lending support to
numerous Tri-City causes such as the Homeless Task Force, SRCLE
group headed by SD43, and the Community Partners initiative. In
addition many other groups invited our input and participation.
As PoCoMo moves forward, our goals are to expand our services
to street involved youth, raise the profile of the organization in the
community, collaborate and build effective relationships with other !
organizations, share what we have learned with regards to serving at-
risk youth, and pass on what youth are telling us.
In 2007 we asked individuals, families, and businesses to support
our unique initiative and philosophy. And many of you did. To you
all we extend our sincerest thank you. We hope you are proud of the
investments we have made together in the Tri-Cities.
In order to keep our program operating we need continued financial
support. Unfortunately, we spend an inordinate amount of time writing
grants and organizing fund raisers to support our operations. What we
need is secure, ongoing funding so we can focus our time and energy on
what really matters - reaching out to youth in need.
Youth ARE our most valuable resource, and PoCoMo is proud to impact
the lives of youth in a positive way through youth engagement. We meet
youth where they are. We hope you will continue to support our efforts in !
2008. Over 200 Banting Middle School
Students visit the Youth Bus.

PoCoMo’s core program, Project Reach Out, is the first after-hours
mobile outreach program for youth in BC. We operate in the Tri-Cities
communities of Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, and Port Moody. Using a
modified 24ft long shuttle bus and operating 7:00 pm to midnight on
weekends, we establish a consistent presence by traveling to areas of
the community where youth naturally congregate. We meet with the
youth on their terms and their turf. We support youth who are on the
street and are vulnerable to exploitation, drug use, engaging in violence,
crime, and vandalism.

Staffed by a diverse team of adult youth workers, youth mentors, and !

volunteers, Project Reach Out actively seeks out and engages street
involved youth. We engage with youth in an effort to strengthen their
connection to the community and to help youth make positive life SUCCESSES
choices.
