A course about all the things youll ever need to know about transitioning into
adult life and how to be successful.

Instructor Information
Darlene Malco has been in education for 16 years and got her start
teaching Physical Education, Communications, Psychology, and BIM.
In 2008 she received her Special Education certification and has
worked in that capacity as an inclusion teacher for U.S. History, World
Geography, and World History. However, with the introduction of the
co-teach model launched by the district, she found her unique gifting
in English II. Ms. Malco brings all these experiences to you in this highly
coveted Dream Course.

Communication
Instructor Availability
I can be contacted through email, text message, telephone, or
messages through the Learning Management System (LMS).
Synchronous sessions by appointment are available during online
office hours.
When sending email messages please include Dream Course in the
subject heading of your e-mail and sign your full name and section
number to your email messages. The response time for
communication will be within 24 hours. Feedback for assignments will
be within 3 days.
For quicker responses to questions, please use the FAQ section in the
LMS, participants are encouraged to answer other questions and the
instructor will provide clarification if needed.

It is expected that all students conduct themselves in an appropriate
manner while working within the course.
The Golden Rule applies online in the same way it does with
face-to-face interactions. Treat people as you want to be treated.

Course Information
Course Prerequisite
Basic technology knowledge and skills, such as creating documents in
word processing/presentation software and attaching files to an email.
Course Description
This is the description for the course of a lifetime. The class that all
teachers wish they had when they were young and wish that all
children today could take before they finish their high school careers.
It is a class about life. It is a class about life and the things I wish I
knew when I was 19. Topics range from knowing the right amount to tip
to how to change a tire to setting personal goals.
Course Goals and Objectives
Upon completion of this Dream Class participants will have the skills
they need to successfully follow their dreams and transition into the
adult world
Course length
Dream Class is a 15 week, semester long class running August 31,
2016 through December 14, 2016. A course week runs Monday
Saturday and will require approximately 6-10 hours of time per week.
Required Instructional Materials
The e-textbook The Guide to Adulting (ISBN 000-000000000) is
required. Other materials will be provided within the course.

The students will be provided with a username and password sent via
email prior to the beginning of the course. If trouble arises with log in,
contact the instructor as soon as possible.
Synchronous Sessions

There will be required synchronous sessions weekly. The live sessions


will be available using the LMS. If the live session cannot be attended
a recording will be available the following day.

Attendance and Participation


Attendance Requirements
Students need to log in a minimum of 4 days per week to earn
attendance points for this course. A maximum of 4 attendance points
can be earned per week. Extra points can not be earned and rolled
over to subsequent weeks. In the event that the required weekly
attendance is not successfully earned, an extra credit opportunity will
be provided. Attendance will be updated every Monday and can be
found in the Course Progress section of the LMS.
Attendance at Synchronous Sessions
Students are required to attend the weekly, live sessions or watch the
recorded version of the live session. Students must notify the
instructor once theyve watched the recorded session
Participation
Students are required to complete and turn in assignments weekly by
midnight of the given due date. Late work will be accepted with in a
24 hour period and will receive a 20 point deduction. Please notify the
instructor if you anticipate turning in an assignment late.

Course Requirements
The Dream Course is a semester long elective class. To successfully
complete the class and earn credits, students must do the following:
Complete all course assignments, activities, and assessments
Attend or watch all weekly synchronous sessions
Meet the weekly attendance requirement of 4 logins per week for
the entire semester
Complete the end of term project
Evaluation
In order to clarify the expectations for all assignments, assessments,
and the project, rubrics will be provided throughout the course.
Students will receive numerical grades on a scale of 0-100 for all
graded materials.

The materials provided in the Dream Course are to be utilized by the
students for personal educational needs only. These materials are not
to be copied for distribution or kept as digitized copies on the students
electronic devises. Failure to comply with these restrictions may hold

Network, The Dream Course has met 100% of the accessibility
standards set by the Dream Network. Participants with a particular
need within the course should notify the instructor so that
modifications can be made if necessary.
Subject to Change Policy
Although the content and materials for the Dream Course are loaded
into the course weekly, the instructor reserves the right to change the
content as needed per the needs of the students enrolled in the class.
Prior notifications will be given if a change occurs. If modifications are
needed to the content materials, the student should contact the
instructor immediately.

It is the students responsibility to make sure that all the necessary
technology for this course is working. However, in the event that the
student is experiencing technical difficulties the instructor is available
to help trouble shoot and solve the problem, or forward the problem to
the proper place to get further assistance..
