Walking in the Truth

3Jo 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (KJV)
In Jn. 14:6 Jesus saith to Phil ip, I am the way, the truth, and the l ife: no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me. And in Eph. 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth
is in Jesus:
Jn. 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from
the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a l ie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a l iar, and the father of it.
There is such a thing as truth, which idea our Lord Jesus associates Himself in saying, I am
the truth. On the other hand there is such a thing as a l ie. Jesus said the devil is the father of it. The
BBE says, When he says what is false, it is natural to him, for he is false and the father of what is
false. (v.44b)
The Bible refers to God as the true God (or the God who is true). Why is God true? Because
God is l ight and in Him is no darkness at all. Truth is real ity. It defines that which is according to
God's making. Everything God makes has to be according to a standard of truth. That truth is called
Christos. Anything that is not according to Christ is a l ie. Falsehood is contrariety to Christ. Mortal ity
is a type of l ife that is false, that is not l ife at all. Witchcraft is a l ie in the spirit realm. Satan is the
lord of the l ie.
When we got saved we were del ivered from that darkness which is a l ie and translated into
the world of l ight, into all that is true. But one can be in the truth and yet keep walking in a l ie.
Nobody wants that to be their real ity and yet many are walking in a l ie in several regards. We see it
when we see folks walking in presumption, or walking in deception, or walking by sense knowledge.
God did not save us so that we as Christians would continue to l ive our old l ives. Salvation
brings our walk into the truth. We were once dead and unable to walk in truth, but now we are al ive
and the Holy Spirit has been sent into our l ives. He is our helper, helping us in intercession, but His
more important task is in helping us to walk in the truth because He is the Spirit of Truth. Jn. 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth (see also Jn.14:17; 15:26)
Eternal Principles and the Holy Spirit
The truth speaks of eternal principles that exist in God and that define what God is. The Lord
Jesus' mission is to bring all things back into truth. Satan's ministry is to bring things into a l ie, yea,
to make tem into a l ie altogether. Satan's preoccupation on earth is the bringing of things into an
image that is contrary to God, to make them into something that is totally false to the original
conception in God's heart. Thus homosexual ity is an idea which never originated in God. When a
man has sexual desires for another man, that behavior means nothing in the realm of God. It is a l ie.
Do you get the point?
Jesus Christ is true; Satan is l ie.
It is one of the most wonderful things in scripture, to find that, when you go back to the
simplest, earl iest shall we say, most elementary expression or projecting of divine things in the
word of God, everything there is so true in principle to all that comes out later in that connection in
greater fullness. It is marvelous how God has kept everything true to principle; you never find later,
however a thing is developed, that there is a change in principle; the principle is there and you
cannot get away from it. TAS
God has brought everything into l ine with fixed principles and does not deviate one l ittle bit.
Everything God does or makes has His law in it and His law is undeviating and unchanging. It is the
Holy Spirit alone who knows that. He alone knows all the laws and principles, all things which
spiritually govern the purposes of God; and He alone knows the plans and the details, and can make

everything true to these principles and laws. And so far as God is concerned everything has got to be
true to them.
The Bible is full of divine principles. In seeking to build that which shall be according to God
we must seek to draw principles from God's word. There are times when we may not know what the
scriptures say but if we would be led by the Holy Spirit He would lead us into truth. That which would
result from His leading us would be according to divine principles.
Prophetic Ministry
Says Austin Sparks, The prophetic ministry is an enl ightened ministry, and is that which,
under the anointing, is to bring things back to that position of absolute safety and security because
it is true to divine principle. Everything that is of God embodies those principles.
Watchmen Nee observed that From the beginning to the end the Bible maintains an organic
unity. God's word is one because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. The work of the spirit of truth is to
direct our l ives into these undeviating principles. Therefore one of the uses of prophetic ministry is
to help us stay in truth.
In the eighties the prophetic realm opened over the global church in such an unprecedented
manner. Since them the prophetic has continued to develop. Prophetic ministry has been part of the
spiritual landscape of the church and would continue to do so. We must move beyond just giving
personal prophecies and blessing folks to this ministry of helping in building by reveal ing God's
thoughts, intent and patterns, which are ever true. Amen.
