A MAN who sent his former

wife a large number of text
messages during an acrimonious break-up has been
fined $1500.
Jamie Matthew Roberts,
43, of Cramer Street in Warrnambool, pleaded guilty
in the magistrates court to
breaching an intervention
order and his bail conditions.
Police said the couple had
been married for 13 years
and separated in July.
The court heard Roberts
sent his wife rude and hostile
text messages which led to
mutual intervention orders
being put in place.
But Roberts continued the
inappropriate contact, police
said.
Roberts
stayed
and
watched a movie at his
daughter's invitation but
he refused to leave when
requested to do so the next
day.
Magistrate John Lesser
warned Roberts any more
offending would be regarded
as extremely serious.
"The issue of family violence is front and centre at
present," he said.

to open mid-2016, with Epworth HealthCare providing
public radiotherapy services
at no cost to patients.

A PORTLAND resident who

invited a substance-affected
woman into his home requires surgery after he was
stabbed multiple times.
Portland police Sergeant
Daniel Lehmann said an
incident unfolded in north
Portland about 9.30pm on
Friday.
He said a man heard a
knock at his front door and,
without getting up, invited
the person into his home.
Sergeant Lehmann said
a woman in her 30s did not
know the man.
Police said the pair had
an amicable conversation
which then developed into
a scuffle, the woman left
and the man noticed he was
bleeding and reported the
incident to police.
He said the man was
taken to Portland hospital
and was treated but would
require additional surgery
after receiving multiple stab
wounds to his leg.
The woman was arrested
a short distance from the
man's home.
Police waited about eight
hours and then interviewed,
charged and bailed the
woman to appear in court
on serious assault-related
offences.
"She's wandered from her
home and believed to be
heavily affected by alcohol

and-or drugs," he said.

"For unknown reasons its
alleged she attacked the man
with an unknown object,
stabbing him several times
to a leg.
The woman has fled, the
victim noticed the blood and
called 000.
"From an amicable conversation it all went pearshaped. It certainly didn't
pay to be neighbourly.
In a separate court hearing, a Warrnambool man
who jumped out of the dock
during his last court appearances has apologised for his
conduct.
Anthony Alberts, 30, of Botanic Road, appeared in the
Warrnambool Magistrates
Court on Monday via video.
On November 23 Mr Alberts vaulted over the side
of the dock and into the
courtroom during a remand
hearing.
Six police grabbed him
and there were about a dozen members of his family in
court at the time.
Mr Alberts was already on
bail charged with trafficking
ice and burglary before he
was arrested and charged
with the new offences.
Negotiations have now
been completed and there
will be a consolidated plea
hearing in the Koori division
of the magistrates court on
January 21.
Mr Alberts told magistrate
John Lesser he was sorry for
jumping out of the dock.
