Collecting Switch SupportSaves using Connectrix
n
Manager Converged Network Edition (CMCNE):
1 Select Monitor > Technical Support > Product/Host
SupportSave.

The Technical SupportSave dialog box displays.

2 The ability to move over the entire fabric(s) or

individual switches is available.

3 After moving the switches over to the right menu,

click OK to start the gathering process. A new
window will pop up with the progress for each
switch.

4 Technical SupportSave data for Fabric OS devices is

saved to the following directory:
Install_Home\data\ftproot\technicalsupport\
Technical SupportSave uses the following naming
convention for the Fabric OS device support save
files:
Supportinfo-Day-mm-dd-yyyy-hh-mmss\Switch_Type-Switch_IP_Address-Switch_WWN.

Collecting Switch SupportSaves using the Fabric OS CLI:

NOTE: This will require an internal FTP or SCP server on
the same IP network as the switches or there must be a route

in the IP network that can connect to the FTP or SCP server.

1 Log in to the switches using your user account on
telnet or SSH.
2 At the command prompt, type the CLI
command supportsave for interactive usage.
3 Answer the prompts that follow:
1 Give the IP address of your FTP server.
2 Provide the user name/password for your
FTP server.
3 Select a protocol (i.e.FTP)
4 Remote directory on your FTP server where
you want to dump the files to.
NOTE: If there are saved parameters using the "supportftp"
command, run supportsave with those saved parameters using
the "supportsave -c" command.
Example:
#>supportsave
This command collects RASLOG, TRACE, supportShow,
core file, FFDC data and other support information from both
active and standby CPs and then transfers them to a
FTP/SCP/SFTP server or a USB device. Local CP, remote CP
and BPs' information will be saved, but supportShow
information is available only on the Active CP. This
operation can take several minutes.

NOTE: supportSave will transfer existing trace dump file

first, then automatically generate and transfer latest one.
There will be two trace dump files transferred after this
command.
OK to proceed? (yes, y, no, n): [no] y
Host IP or Host Name: 10.10.10.10 (IP address of FTP/SCP
server)
User Name: anonymous (user name used to login to the
FTP/SCP server)
Protocol (ftp | scp | sftp): ftp
Remote Directory: /temp (folder in the root directory of the
FTP/SCP server that you want to dump the files to.)

Collecting Switch Supportsaves using Brocade label USB
NOTE: Must be using a Brocade labeled USB as it has a
special file system. This will not work with just any USB.
1 Mount the USB using the CLI command
usbstorage e.
2 List out the USB contents using the CLI
command usbstorage l.
3 Run the supportsave command to create a folder and
dump the files in using the CLI command
supportsave -U -d <directory>.
4 List out the USB contents using the CLI

command usbstorage l to confirm all the files are

there, it will be under the root folder called
support.
5 Disable the USB drive using the
command usbstorage d and remove it from the
switch.
6 Once the log files are collected in a place where you
can transmit them to EMC, compress them together.
NOTE:
Switch supportsaves have the filename format of:
<Switchname>-<SlotCP#><YearMonthDayTime>.Filename.Extension
Example:
#>usbstorage -e
