Nutrition E-Portfolio Assignment


The nutrition e-portfolio assignment required the class to document and track all dietary
consumption for seven days, or one week. When I personally found out about this assignment I
thought that the timing couldnt be worse. The week we were scheduled for this assignment is
the week I would be writing all my final papers for all my other courses this semester. What
tends to happen when I start writing final papers is that my diet and budget go out the window. I
tend to stress and take my writing very seriously - seriously enough to trade off my health and
financial well-being for the short term that it takes me to finish under the deadlines. Thats not to
say that I still dont enjoy writing though.
I still kept track and recorded most of everything that I could. I did not record everything
though, I didnt track all the glasses of water and things like ketchup and mustard. For my
workout I run on the treadmill for 30-40 minutes, row for 30 minutes, and cycle for 20-30
minutes. According to the MyFitnessPal app I live a relatively sedentary lifestyle and my
recommended daily calorie intake is 1740 calories. On the days that I workout my calorie intake
increases to 2659. I also make sure that I drink at least 6-8 cups of water per day. Below is my
diet for a week starting on 7/12/16 and ending on 7/18/16:

I would say that I had some mixed results. This isnt my normal diet anyway. It is
interesting now knowing how much I should be eating, before I just kind of guessed. What I
could do to improve is probably eat more fruits and vegetables and re-eliminate soda from my
diet. Also, I would like to exercise more regularly, not just when I have class.
