Assignment guidance

In order to complete the assignment tasks for this unit, candidates will need access to the
site plans provided by City & Guilds, available to download from the qualification webpage.
Where possible, plans should be printed at high resolution, and A3 size. Colour printing is
not necessary.
To complete the assignment, a combination of drawings/overlays/copies may be used.
Copies of the drawings provided may be made; such copies may only be used for this
project. Computer aided design packages may be used in conjunction with this project
providing that data required for such packages is that gathered and inputted by the
candidate.
The scenarios referenced in this unit are:
the Highways Depot.
Tasks Ai, and Aii, may be carried out within any suitable assessment environment. These
tasks do not need to be undertaken in formal exam conditions. Work on these tasks may
be completed over a number of sessions. Candidates must be provided with the list of
questions for tasks Ai and Aii in sufficient time to allow a minimum of two hours research
for each task prior to the scheduled assessment. They may use any resource available in
order to complete the assessments, with the exception of earlier versions of this
assessment. Candidates must be provided with copies of the relevant plans for the
Highways Depot, as listed at the start of task Ai.
Task B and the Common Task must be carried out in exam conditions, and candidates are
not permitted to bring materials into the room, or to communicate with each other.
Candidates must not be provided with this question paper in advance of the assessment
and all copies must be accounted for by the centre when the assessment is finished. The
centre can determine whether the Common Task knowledge questions can be asked as
oral or written questions, but all knowledge elements need to be evidenced.
All copies must be accounted for by the centre when the assessment is finished.
