Imagine having to choose between a meal
or purchasing a notebook. Project Promise

the few required school supplies may be
more than a family can afford. Pencils and
paper can help write a positive future.
Each school kit should include:
(4) 70-sheet notebooks (wide or college
ruled)
(1) ruler (inches & centimeters)
(1) safety scissors (blunt end)
(1) pencil sharpener
(5) pencils (secured by a rubber band)
(5) black or blue pens (no gel; secure with
rubber band)
(1) box of 16 or 24 crayons
(1) 2 eraser

The food donation sheets are now available
in the west hallway. Seems generosity has
boiled over again and all that remains for
donations is cookies! Be sure to check the
hallway for updates! THANK YOU!

COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
June 15, 2016
The St. Johns Council continued discussion of a
mission/vision statement. Pastor David pointed out
that we are living out our mission but it is not
articulated. The council will continue thinking about
and discussing this important part of our
congregations profile with the intention of seeking
the input of our new senior pastor.
The Ministry Site Profile changes were described
and discussed. An added emphasis on Youth and
Family Ministry and an explanation of the
Mission/Vision Statement process were included in
the rewrite. Some parts of the profile were also
rewritten to express the congregations focus more
clearly. The updated MSP has now been submitted
to the synod office for distribution to potential
candidates.
Additional time was spent on reports about Gods
Work, Our Hands Sunday on September 11th, a
Synod Assembly report from Ron Lofgren, and some
discussion about the plans for 50 Years on the Hill
on December 11th.
A complete copy of the minutes is available by mail
or email by contacting the church office.
Get Involved!
If youre an idea person, we need YOU to
help plan our Community Day of Service: Gods
Work. Our Hands. If youre interested in helping
plan this fun day, sign up on the registration
form or talk to Tracy Meister: 750-5734. The
team will be getting together soon to
brainstorm and plan our Sept. 11th day of
service!
