TOMS RIVER Child killer Shawn Milne was arrested here Wednesday and charged with Megans Law violations, a little more than eight months after he was released 20 years early from a 50-year prison term for
rape and murder.
Milne, 46, who at age 15 raped and murdered his 13year-old neighbor, Barbara Renee Harrison, moved to
Toms River without telling police, as is required under
the terms of Megans Law, authorities allege.
Were not happy that he is back in town, said Barbara Harrisons brother, Frank Harrison. I wish hed
stay in jail.
Milne was charged with two counts of failing to register with police and was being held at the Ocean County Jail, with bail set at $25,000, according to a news release from Toms River police.

CLEVELAND - On the day Donald Trump accepted

the Republican Partys nomination for president,
GOP leaders in New Jersey pledged to him their full
support, months after some early hesitance when
Gov. Chris Christie was a candidate.
In Ocean County, enthusiasm for Trump had come
late: the most influential county GOP in the state initially decided not to endorse any presidential candidate at its local convention in March. After public
pressure from grassroots members in particular,
from the countys baby boomers the local GOP relented and threw its support behind Trump less than
one week later.
In talking to people I thought would really be supporting (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich or (U.S. Sen. Marco)
Rubio, it kept coming back to Trump time after
time, said Ocean County Republican Chairman
George R. Gilmore.
The closer we get to September, the more united
the party will become not only in New Jersey, but
across the country, Gilmore said. In Ocean County,
theyre ready to rock n roll for Donald Trump.
The people of New Jersey will come behind him,
said Ocean County Freeholder Virginia Ginny
Haines, speaking from the floor of the convention.

Christie maps out life after politics

Once his term is up, Gov. Chris Christie said, he

plans to retire from public life unless Donald
Trump becomes president and takes him to Washington with him.
If Christie does join Trump, it likely will be the result of the surprise endorsement he made days after
his ending his own presidential run. But that emphatic backing had nothing to do with his personal future,
Christie said Thursday, it was all done to help Republicans in New Jersey get a footing on the national
stage.
My job as leader of this party in the last two presidential cycles has been to look at the field, to try to
figure out not only who would be best for the country,
but who I think is likely to win and to try to get with
that person as early as we can, Christie told a gathering of New Jersey Republicans on their final day in
Cleveland.
In a speech that moved from validation to valedictory, Christie left his final Republican National Convention as head of the state party reflecting in detail
