Theprocessofconvertingvegetableoilintobiodieselfueliscalledtransesterificationorneutralizingthefreefatty
acidsinoil,removingtheglycerol,andcreatinganalcoholester.Thisisaccomplishedbymixingmethanol(wood
alcohol)withlye(sodiumhydroxide)orpotassiumHydroxide,tomakesodium(orpotassium)methoxide.This
liquidisthenmixedintovegetableoil.Theentiremixturethensettles.Glycerolisleftonthebottomandmethyl
