INTRODUCTION
Dear Fellow Magician
I hope you enjoy this Heritage Auction. I have tried to include lots which
appeal to a broad spectrum of magicians, not just collectors. I am pleased
to offer a mix of quality posters, books, props, ephemera, catalogues, coins
and other related paraphernalia.
Some lots have reserves and all lots have estimated guide prices in pounds
sterling. I am grateful to those individuals and estates who have entrusted
their consignments to myself and The Magic Circle for this sale. Items
being sold from The Magic Circle Collection are clearly indicated.
An event of this scale does not run without considerable manpower. I
would like to thank Scott Penrose, Chairman of The Magic Circle, for his
limitless enthusiasm and guidance in coordinating many decisions that had
to be made by Council; Tracey Mullis, Premises Manager, and her team
for overseeing the organisation of Stephenson Way; the Technical Crew
for help throughout; Treasurer Keith Cooper and his team for financial
advice and support; Peter Scarlett for typesetting this catalogue and
communicating with the printers; and the many other porters, caterers and
other volunteers who have given up their time to assist with the success of
the day.
Last, but not least, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude,
on behalf of The Magic Circle, to Henry Lewis for agreeing to bang the
gavel one last time. I am also indebted to Lionel Russell, Executive
Curator, who has kept me focused over the last six months with his
friendship, advice and good humour!
Have a great dayand please bid generously!

Tim Reed AIMC

Heritage Auction Manager;
Deputy Executive Curator.
