PUBLICITY
This is the water mark of Acumen. The chance to glorify your Universe and the opportunity to let people
know what sets you apart. Think out of the box and showcase your thoughts.
Create, innovate, and illustrate.
For the first time in Literary Society, we introduce the concept of Cosplay.
Cosplay (Costume + Play) is dressing up in a costume as a specific character. Historically this term was used
to describe dressing up as an Anime (Japanese Animation) character but it has now crept up in western and
now, even the Indian comic industry. In a nutshell, it means dressing up as someone from a book,
videogame, television show, or comic.
Lot of people confuse Cosplay with Fancy Dress and think that its only for kids, but in reality, its simply a
love for comics and your favourite characters, that is expressed in the form of a tribute by dressing up as
them and it makes absolutely no difference what your age is.
Generally most Cosplayers prefer to build their own costumes. The culture is still new and nascent in India,
and there arent any specialty shops for costumes and accessories.
There are dozens of websites which provide detailed help on making your costume, right from reusing
existing material, to sewing it from scratch, modifying props to fit your choice of character and other helpful
tips. YouTube is also a great medium to get tons of free help on how to build a costume.
We will generally prefer someone who has worked hard to make something on his/her own, instead of just
buying one.
- Before events begin on the first and the last day each participant will get upto 5 minutes on the stage from
5:00 pm to 5:30 PM beside the auditorium if they wish to pose or act as the character. It will help you gather
points from the judges if you can impress them with a little bit of acting as your favourite character.
- Cosplay is encouraged as a publicity tool for all 4 days.
-The Cosplayers will be judged on the following criteria:
Costume: The closeness to the look and feel of the real character being portrayed. (50 points)
Props: Use of props is recommended.
Performance (if any):
