PRO2 Good Stories of PNP Efforts/Forms of Heroism

a. On September 21, 2013 Super Typhoon Odette hit
the Batanes Group of Islands causing damages on
infrastructures, agriculture and livestocks. Many
families were affected and power lines of the entire
province were totally damaged.
Personnel of
Batanes PPO helped in the clearing of roads from
debris brought by typhoon Odette. They also assisted
the restoration of electric power lines.

b. Personnel of Batanes PPO also assisted in the

unloading of relief goods from C130 Aircraft and LST
Philippine Navy Ship and in the distribution to the
typhoon victims.
c. To protect the territorial waters of
Batanes against foreign poachers, a joint
seaborne patrol operation was conducted
by Batanes PPO and Bantay Dagat
volunteers particularly at Ditarem Island,
Itbayat, Batanes on September 3, 2013,
resulting to the apprehension of one (1)
Taiwanese National identified as Tsai Po,
54 years old, married and a resident of
Hshien, Pintung, Taiwan on board a
colored blue Taiwanese Fishing Vessel
with markings CTR-PT 3512.
d. On July 28, 2015 joint operatives of Batanes PPO
and Basco Police Station recovered more or less 2.6
kgs of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (Shabu) at
Sitio Diohangu, Brgy. San Joaquin, Basco, Batanes.
Said illegal drugs were reportedly buried at the
forested area at said place.
e. Personnel Batanes PPO assisted the Sto. Domingo de
Guzman Parish and the Eucharistic Disciples of the Divine
Mercy during the 2015 Optical Mission held at the
Batanes General Hospital on September 22-25, 2015.
