ALLOCATION OF BIDDING POINTS

Non-STEX Students: Every student would be given 1000 points to bid for the electives
for each round in both stages.
STEX Students: For first stage you would be given 600 bid points. For second stage, The
number of points in the first round would be 700. From 2nd round of Stage 2, the
number of bid points would be decided as MAX (700, (1000 Average of points bid in
Term 5 by Non-STEX students)).
Points from stage 1 would not be carried forward to stage 2.
Note:
Students who participated in the voting for major Constitutional amendments would be
allotted 25 additional bidding points.

IMPORTANT POINTS ABOUT PROCESS

1. While deciding the allocation for a particular student, the following will be the rules applied
a. For the first stage, non-Stex students are supposed to select 5/5.5 credits from the same
specialization. Stex students are supposed to select 3 credits form same specialization.
They are expected to complete 2 credits at their Stex universities.
b. The bidding points for the course, as provided by the student, will be used as the first
criterion.
c. In case of tie, the CGPA of the student will be used to determine the allocation.
2. Course of Independent Study (CIS)/ Dissertation
a. You are allowed to take maximum of two CIS courses in term V and VI (such that not
more than one course is taken in term V) in lieu of the electives offered. (please refer
the PGP manual for details)
b. You can drop a subject in any area subject to the following conditions
i. No subject gets dropped because the number of PGP students in that subject
goes below 30.
ii. No section gets dropped because the number of PGP students goes below 30.
iii. You cannot drop a subject that reduces your concentration in the area to a level
that is below the cutoff for any subject in the concerned area.

1|Page

c. Students opting for CIS will have to select 15 credits in the elective allocation system.
The decision of which subject to drop is taken in term IV. Please plan your electives
accordingly.
3. Compulsory course (Strategic Management-II) would not count towards the four courses
required for a concentration in the area.
4. CIS/Dissertation would not count towards the number of courses required for a concentration
area.
5. Workshops would not count towards concentration in an area.
6. Additional Credits/ non credits courses
a. You are allowed to take a maximum of two additional credits over and above 15.5
credits (15 electives and 0.5 compulsory).
b. The allocation of these credits will be done manually after the elective allocation
round.

GUIDELINES FOR CHOOSING ELECTIVES

Information you will have to bear in mind while making your choice:
a. A PGP student must take at least 15 elective course credits across the three terms such that:
i.
One does not take less than 5 or more than 6 elective credits in term IV and Term V
ii.
One does not take less than 3 or more than 5 elective credits in term VI
b. An ABM student needs to pick at least 8.5 elective course credits of which only 1 credit can
be through a PGP elective. The term wise split would be:
i.
One does not take less than 1.5 or more than 3 elective credits in term IV
ii.
One does not take less than 5 or more than 6 elective credits in term V
iii.
One does not take more than 2 elective credits in term VI

Term IV and Term VI.
ii.
Out of these 3 credits (from same specialization) are to be chosen in first stage. They
are expected to complete 2 credits of specialization at their Exchange University.
d. We are going to have section-wise (faculty wise) bidding. However, a student can bid for
only one section at a time. E.g. If a course X has two sections being taken by Faculty A and B.
Student can bid either for faculty A or faculty B in any round, not for both.
e. PGP students can bid for ABM electives in Stage 2.

PROCESS
Each STAGE has multiple ROUNDS and permanent allocation of electives is made after every
stage.
RULES:
1. Number of rounds in 1st stage: 1st stage would have 3 + X rounds, maximum of 6 rounds. 3
rounds would definitely happen in this stage. After the 3rd round a chit would be picked
whether or not to continue with the 4th round or to freeze that Stage and make the allocations.
If the chit says Continue, we would have the 4th round, else the 3rd round would be the last
round of this Stage and allocations of the electives would be made. The same would be
repeated for the 4th round and the process would continue till we reach the 6th round. We
request the CRs to be present there during the process. Location will be communicated later.
2. Number of rounds in 2nd stage: 2nd Stage would have 3+X rounds. 3 rounds would definitely
happen in this stage. After 3rd round a chit will be drawn whether or not do the permanent
allocation. If the chit says yes then permanent allocation will be done. Students who are
allotted all required credits during this permanent allocation would be signed out. Only students
who are not allotted required credits would continue in the fourth round. Again at the end of 4 th
round a chit will be drawn whether or not go for permanent allocation and the process will
continue until there are fewer than 50 students who need manual allocation.
