STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

1. Why do you want to become a trader (what day to day duties

excite you)?
Present day trading requires analytical and logical ability along with a great sync
of probability and statistical analysis. It depends largely on how well one can
interpret and analyse the past and present and extrapolate for the future. With
the advent of HFT, trading has now become a toy of intellectuals and logical
analysers. I, being number and maths savvy since a young age, further refined
these skills at IIT Bombay and reinforced them to greater levels. I found myself
very much enthusiastic to enjoy with these skills and apply them for proficient
achievements in this field. Here, I have the opportunity to take complex
decisions in fraction of seconds which is my forte.
At IIT Bombay, active participation in music, sports and other leadership
activities at various avenues as coordinator, secretary and warden nominee
enriched my capabilities as a problem solver, team leader and motivational
manager. These experiences not only strengthened my independent thinking but
incubated leadership skills and helped me harness my talent through continuous
innovative events. Inspiration through regular involvement helped me to propose
bold solutions, support teammates and surpass hurdles, thereby resulting in high
morale. Thus I look forward to such a job as I believe in qualitative and
quantitative performance, freedom to implement own well designed strategies
and a result oriented career. It is conducive to and matches my piled up
capabilities and aspirations to have opportunity for perfection, progression and
tremendous scope.
Another very important reason which attracts me towards trading is that every
instance brings in something new. Spontaneity, foresight and responsiveness
matter a lot in such jobs and I found myself befitting to deal with such situations.
Some particular news affects the prices of a certain financial product, thereby
creating opportunity to make profit. Chances of stalemate are meagre here and
growth and expansion is unlimited although risk is always associated with it. I
have a very keen interest in the whole machinery of finance; I often use my time
to read about it, trying to understand how everything in this ever changing world
of finance moves. I have always had an aptitude for mathematics, analytics and
reasoning, thus I believe I am very well suited for this job.

2. Why did you choose Flow Traders specifically?

My inclination to trading as an interesting opportunity guided me to study major
players in the field and I found Flow Traders, IMC, Optiver and GETCO as the
main agencies in Europe. Among these firms, Flow Traders attracted me the
most because it is comparatively new in the field and has sophisticated
infrastructure with great capabilities and structure attuned to intellectuals and
new comers. New firms generally have a flat hierarchy as compared to the other
established firms thereby giving much more independence and responsibility to
new hires.
It will be a tremendous start for me professionally since learning at Flow Traders
will be very fast than at any other trading firm because of its unique one team
driven culture underpinned by four eyes principle showing concern for security.
Working at Flow Traders will help me learn about not just one but many financial
products, since Flow Traders deals in varied financial instruments. Moreover,
