Do you have anything to contribute to Netmails legendary travel stories?
We have some doozies. Heres one from none other than our very own
Greg Smith, Practice Lead, Professional Services:
Imagine yourself on a sunny Saturday afternoon, hanging around the
house before your planned trip to Europe the next day, only to get a phone
call asking where you are because the rest of the team is at the airport
waiting for the flight that leaves in 90 minutes. Panic is useless at this
point and cardio is a much better solution for quickly packing, calling a cab
and running out the door, running through airport and begging the agent
to check your bag with 30 minutes before the flight. What flight? They
cant find your reservation. After some digging you find you inadvertently
booked that flight for the following month. The airline makes the change.
Then running to the gate just in time. Boarding before your colleagues,
after all that? Priceless.
The rest is smooth sailing, right? Wrong. That sinking feeling when youre
just about to land at LaGuardia for a connection to Europe the following
day and you realize your hotel reservation is still for next month. Of
course the closest hotel to La Guardia with vacancy is in Connecticut. So
you keep calling all Manhattan hotels until you find one with a room at an
excellent price. An unmarked taxi ride later, I arrive at my luxurious 3-star
Manhattan hotel and have to speak to the clerk behind bulletproof glass.
