NARRATIVE REPORT

PATROL LEADERS TRAINING COURSE


JULY 22 23, 2016
The District Patrol Leaders Training Course of the City of Ozamiz, Province of
Misamis Occidental, Philippines was held last July 22 -23, 2016 at Bacolod Elementary
School, Ozamiz City. It was headed by our District Commissioner Madam Elsa B.
Buenavidez, WBH, as our Course Leader. The one and half-day event was an avenue
for scouts to experience activities specifically lined-up for scouts catering various
program of the scouting movement, environmental awareness, promotion of peace and
enhancement of leadership skills.
The scouters arrived at Bacolod Elementary School together with their Patrol
Leaders as their eyes blinked with so much excitement. After they placed all their things
in there quarters they are instructed by School Scout Coordinator Helen A. Abejuela,
WBH, to make their patrol flag. The opening program started at 1:00 in the afternoon of
July 22, 2016. It was attended by our special guests, EsP Supervisor Madam Juliet M.
Tagapan, LT, GSP and BSP Supervisor Madam Angelita M. Maribojoc, resource
speakers and facilitators of the training, School Commissioner Madam Clarita S.
Mangindo, WBH, Mr. Jonrey Q. Buenaflor, ALT, School Commissioner Joseph L. Galia,
WBH, School Commissioner Merlie H. Bubuli, BTC, Barangay Chairman Dionisio P.
Detalla and GPTA President Madam Merceluz A. Tagama. The Bacolod Teachers used
multi-media for the doxology and the Pambansang Awit. Assistant Leader Trainer
Jonrey Q. Buenaflor led the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and the
Dedication of Scout Oath and Law. School Commissioner Joseph L. Galia, WBH gave
his welcome address to all of us and the scouters applauded him with a lets go clap.
The Gango participants give their intermission number and called themselves as

Dancing Patrol Leaders. Our Course Leader Madam Elsa B. Buenavidez, WBH,
introduced our speaker, Madam Angelita M. Maribojoc. She gives her scout message to
all the participants and reminded them how important the scouting is. Barangay
Chairman Dionisio P. Detalla gave his message and support as he promise that CVO
will take charge for the safety of the participants and the facilitators. School
Commissioner Merlie H. Bubuli introduced the 55 participants coming from the different
schools of District 4. EsP Supervisor Madam Juliet P. Tagapan, LT, gives her message
also to all the participants and encouraged them to be good and responsible scout
leaders. Sir Jonrey Q. Buenaflor, ALT, gives his briefing and orientation of different
quarters to all the participants. The program was closed by Merceluz A. Tagama the
Gen. PTA president of Bacolod Elementary School.
The Rovers proceed to the function room for the lecture of the discussants. All
the facilitators do their task and give activities to the scouters for their outputs. After the
dinner Patrol Leaders Council had a short practice for the campfire. Sir Jonrey Q.
Buenaflor, ALT, led the Campfire: Yarn: Scout Ideals. Senior Scouts presented their
dramatization and when the lights in, different presentation was presented by the
different patrols. It was a memorable for the scouters to experience the solemnity of the
scouting. The program was end at 10:00. The scouters seemed tireless but they need
to rest for the next day activities.
Early the next morning of July 23, 2016, Senior Scouts and participants reveille
and do their early morning exercise. Senior Scouts led the morning exercise and the
Hataw dance for the scouters. After the wash up and breakfast, the scouters were
ready for the inspection, flag ceremony and games. Teaching Scout Skills starting from
based 1 to 6 were anchored by the facilitators with the help of the Senior Scouts. After
lunch, obstacles and challenge valley begin. All scouters were waiting for this event as
they are going to face all the challenge. Values formation was explain to them as they
accept all the trials because in the real life we will also encounter many trials. They
enjoyed so much even if they feel nervous of what obstacles they were encountered
next. Humility and humbleness were always in their mind as they pass the last obstacle,

the Snake crawl. Proud relatives, friends as well as the untiring and ever supportive
parents of the scouters were happy as they pass the entire challenge valley.
Proclamation of winners and distribution of prizes was done during the closing
ceremony to keep the crowd intact. Our Course Leader Madam Elsa B. Buenavidez,
WBH, Facilitators and teachers who helped for the said training were also received
certificates from our SDS Rebonfamil R. Baguio, Regional Scout Commissioner.
Satisfied and fulfilled, all scouters went home with their hearts filled with joy and pride.
