Intern Interview Questions

Focus on Intern: Josh Just

Josh is working as an intern this summer in AARs Sourcing Department. From the time he had his first
interview back in spring, he knew this is where he wanted to spend his summer as an intern. When he
interviewed, AAR was in the process of remodeling. He understood the culture at the Company would
be more open and modern compared to many other corporations.
Josh reports to Mike Daly, Director of Aviation Supply Chain. During his time in the Finance department
he has learned how to code Python, a high-level programming language and a skill increasingly valued in
the workplace. This coding was required for his first few projects as an intern.

1. What projects have you been working on this summer as an intern?

I have worked on three main projects: 1) I created a Black Scholes option pricing model using Python to
simulate what revenue for AAR and other participants would look like if we created options on parts. 2) I
analyzed Deltas data overlooking excess inventory and margins to try and find more efficient processes.
3) I am currently working on making vendor scorecards using a program called Power BI which will
hopefully be sent to our actual suppliers.

2. Whats your favorite part of working at AAR?
I think my favorite part of working at AAR is working with kind, genuine individuals who are more than
happy to help me when I am in need. I came to AAR with little coding experience and I feel comfortable
now with a few different programming languages. My department consists of very busy individuals, but
they are always there for one another, creating the company culture I see myself one day working in.
Mike Daly and Tom Rogers have been mentoring Josh this summer. He has a strong connection with
Tom who is close in age to Josh. He has constantly been there to help me when I need it he said.

3. What have you learned in your time here?

I have learned to never steer away from a challenge. Being challenged, and at times, frustrated, has
allowed me to be more creative in finding a solution. AAR, unlike college, made me realize help is not
always readily available, so I have to constantly think of outside the box solutions to my problems. Josh
also mentioned, AAR has taught me the importance of hard work and dedication to business areas I am
passionate about.

4. What would you like to be doing 5 years from now?

With my job, I have always wanted to make a difference in other peoples lives. No matter how small, I
want to see the effect I have on other people and hopefully the business I am working with.

Fun Facts about Josh: Born and raised in Glenview, IL he attended Glenbrook South High School.
Hes currently a junior at Indiana University where he is majoring in Finance and Business Analytics as

freshman year. Josh volunteers with Habitat for Humanity as well as at a day care center in Havana,
Cuba called La Casa del Nino y la Nina, where he donated supplies (chalk, jump ropes, etc.) to the
children.
