For Todd Wilkinson music has always been always been a

passion. For 24 and half years now, Wilkinson has taught numerous classes at Colfax High including two nationally awarded
choirs, drum line, band, beginners guitar, advanced guitar and
more.
In regards to winning Colfaxs Best of the Best awards for
Best Teacher, Wilkinson replied, I feel very honored and very
excited.
For the past 19 consecutive years, Wilkinsons chamber choir
has won gold in competition. He often travels with his choirs to
several locations across the nations. In past years, they have
gone to Hawaii, San Diego, Anaheim, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and this year they are raising money for an event in
New York.
Wilkinson is doing what he loves.
I want to teach so I am very happy about that, said Wilkinson.
Colfax has been home for Wilkinson and his family even
before he moved there permanently. He started as a teacher at
Colfax High School and loved it so much that he commuted to

work for six months from Sacramento before relocating his family
to Colfax.
Ever since then he has found a home in the foothills. With a very
rigorous routine, it is hard to find a moment that isnt musically
driven. He even started a beginners band program for Colfax
Elementary School before the high school classes begin as well as
classes after normal school hours.
I have a big schedule, commented Wilkinson.
This upcoming 2017 school year, Todd Wilkinson is teaming up
with the drama teacher at Colfax High in order to put together a
musical sensation.
I love musical theatre, said Wilkinson.
The arts surely arent dead in Colfax and Todd Wilkinson is a
huge part in keeping them alive in the Colfax area.

The Colfax Mini Storage managers are not only concerned

with providing customers with the right storage unit but they
also work to make them feel comfortable at the facility.
In the Colfax area since 1996, the company has a newly
remodeled office that resembles a family living room. Customers are offered cold bottled water, candy and fresh coffee from
a Keurig coffee bar, said Ada McMaster.
McMaster and her husband, Garrett, are on-site managers
for the business.
Customers say that they like the facilities, the cleanliness
and security, and most of all, the businesss friendly welcoming atmosphere, she said.
Her facility gets high marks from customers for cleanliness, maintenance upkeep, affordability and security, according to Ada McMaster.
Colfax Mini Storage offers long-term parking spaces and
seven different sizes of units, ranging from 25 square feet (5 x
5) to 300 square feet (10 x 30).
An upgraded system provides property surveillance 365 days
a year, 24 hours per day. The facility is completely fenced and

The McMasters drive through the facility and spot check both
exterior and interior units throughout the day, McMaster said.
Our goal is the safety and protection of our tenants and our
tenants property, she said.
In addition to rental units, the company stocks an inventory
of products, including moving boxes, packing tape and locks.
They also loan a furniture dolly and a box cart to tenants for
furniture moves.
Customer relations are one of their most important priorities,
McMaster said.
We strive to go above and beyond in many ways for our
customers. They are the most important part of this business,
McMaster said. We know that some situations can be less
than perfect but our goal is to satisfy our tenants.

Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, TJs Roadhouse serves up hearty meals with healthy
portions.
When asked how co-owner Jon Colon feels
about winning again this year, he said, Great.
Im absolutely competitive, love winning! It
makes a big difference in what youre doing.
If youre trying to win, your outcome will be
better!
His motivation and competitiveness is paying
off.
TJs Roadhouse is owned by Jim and Pat Eichhorn (Jon Colons mother and stepfather) and
Jon, and operated by Jon and his wife, Tina.
Colon thanked the Colfax community for
voting for TJs Roadhouse again.
Its been a long journey for 10 years. With
ups and downs, lots of locals have been there
to cover us during these ups and downs, Colon
said. Its been good.
Colon takes pride that the meals served are
hearty, home-style food.
In this day and age, we try to cook here. Not
heating up stuff, no using microwave. We cook
what were serving, Colon said. For this style
of restaurant, its pretty good. We choose good
quality ingredients.
Colon is also proud of his team and said they
are the reason TJs Roadhouse has won again

We have a great team here. From the back to
the front of the house, they all do a great job,
he said.
Thanks to everybody thats helped us for 10
years! Colon added.
Breakfast includes eggs with chicken fried
steak, pork chops, hamburger patties, linguisa
or chorizo. Other specialties are corned beef
hash, omelets, biscuits and gravy, and homemade salsa. Breakfast is served until noon on
Saturday and Sunday.
For lunch, diners can enjoy big hamburgers, a variety of other hot and cold sandwiches,
fish and chips, soup and salad, and more.
The dinner menu features a variety of steaks,
baked potato and salad, pork chops, fried
chicken, spaghetti and meat balls, and more,
according to TJs Roadhouse website.
Located off Interstate 80 at the Colfax exit,
the restaurant is open at 6:30 a.m. Wednesdays
through Mondays and until 9 p.m. on weekends.
Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and goes until closing.
TJs Roadhouse is closed on Tuesdays.

From the time Jessica Shefty was a little girl,

she has been passionate about dancing.
Over the past 22 years, that passion evolved
from a hobby into a career.
Shefty, the owner-operator of Ambitions
Performing Arts in Colfax, has performed at the
Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York,
at the California State Fair, and at Disneyland
and scores of other amusement parks, she
said.
In January, Shefty opened Ambitions inside
the Colfax Theater. Her goal is to help other
children and adults find their passion in dance
performance.
My aspiration is to see my students go
above and beyond anything that Ive accomplished, Shefty said.
Ambitions schedule of weekly dance classes
and monthly workshops includes ballet, pointe,
lyrical, jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theater
performance and stretch and strength-build-

ing workouts.
Students are charged per class with a discount for monthly pre-registration. There are
no registration or tuition fees.
Current class offerings are 5:15 and 6:15
p.m. Wednesdays for contemporary lyrical
dance and mini-dancer combo (for 3 to 5 year
olds) and 6:15 p.m. Thursdays for hip-hop (6
to 12 year olds).
Registration for classes is always open,
Shefty said.
If five or more students are interested in any
type of dance class, Shefty will open a new
class.
Shefty is currently forming a competition and
performance team. All ages are welcome.
And coming soon: Ambitions will audition
students for its inaugural holiday musical, Ill
be Home for Christmas.
